All the familly needs good health care coverage and Nationwide provides that for my small dog.
We have had four "children" during our 50 years of marriage. Genie is the fifth. Our first was having heart problems when we first heard of insurance for pets. It was too late to get her covered at age 15 and pre-existing conditions. We got our second baby and insured him at the first moment he was eligible. So this is our fourth "baby" to be covered. In the period of time from 1980 until today, I am so thankful for this coverage. We had one (the third) who jumped from the car window and before we could stop, was run over. Broken leg, broken hip, among other injuries. BUT with Nationwide, he recuperated and lived to a good age. THANK YOU NATIONWIDE.

Best pet insurance company ever! Paid claim in 14 hours.
Trupanion may be the best insurance company ever! I’ve had my 2 pups covered since they were a year old and wondered if I would ever actually need it. Well, here we are 4 years later, and Clyde got a herniated disc in his spine. How did this happen? No one knows. He is not overly active or sporty. The doctor says that his breed (he is a rescue mutt, but we suspect he is a mix of Jack Russell & Beagle. Who knows, maybe there is some dachshund in there too?) is predisposed to this type of spine injuries even from normal activity. It appeared to start with a sore back and his primary vet treated him with anti-inflammatory and Pain medication. This appeared to be working but then all of a sudden, Clyde had a setback and it was clear that we had to take him to a specialist. The Neurologist kept him overnight for observation and when he was worse by the next morning, they did emergency surgery. I would’ve found a way to pay whatever it cost to take care of Clyde.... even have sold my left arm if I had to. But thanks to Trupanion, I didn’t have any of those concerns. In these particularly difficult times of the Covid-19 Quarantine and our company being closed, I was able to take comfort knowing that my four-legged child was taken care of, no matter how high the cost. Trupanion has no-limit on the amount they will cover to save my baby. Prior to selecting this insurance company, I did a lot of research and Trupanion had the best terms and best reviews. I was certain I’d made the right decision but, to be honest, until you actually use it, you never really know if all the reviews are true. Having used this insurance now, I can personally attest to the fact that Trupanion is a great company and they do what they say they will and they do it in a expeditious manner. I submitted my vet bills online to Trupanion at 4:55pm on a Wednesday. I fully expected to hear back from them sometime the following week. To my surprise, at 7:15am the NEXT MORNING, I had an email stating that my claim was approved and would be paid immediately. That is a 14 hour turnaround time. I was shocked. The money hit my account that night and was available in my account the next day. ASTONISHING! (In case any is wondering, a herniated disc in a small dog cost about $6000). Trupanion is an upstanding company in a world where companies seem to do as little as they can get away with these days. I recommend Trupanion hands down, to anyone who would like health insurance for their pet.

Unsupportive Waste of Money
I got a policy for this company as an incentive for adopting a neglected dog. When I got the dog, I was not made aware he had any pre-existing conditions (but I did ask). It was clear when he came to me he had severe skin issues and was underweight. I took him to the vet, and got a bill for about $500 (with a $91 coupon through the rehoming program I got him through). He was behind on vaccinations and tests, needed medication for his skin condition, and because of his skin condition the vet recommended they run a blood test. Trupanion denied the entire claim, they said the entire visit was not eligible, and said I should have expected all of these charges for my new "fur baby" - their words. I asked what they do cover, and essentially unless you foresee your pet becoming gravely ill or injured, this is a total waste of money. I had also spoken to customer support before activating the insurance, and I was told all coverage would be to support the sick pet - total false advertising. Also, their monthly payments are sky high. Seriously, not worth it. ***Edit: I called the number left in the team's response below. It is just the general customer service line, not a direct or special line. Again, they were incredibly unhelpful. If you are adopting a dog from a shelter or rehoming organization, this company is a complete waste of money. If you adopt a perfectly healthy puppy from a breeder, it might be worth your while if your dog needs surgery in 10 years. Essentially, my dog is being discriminated against by this company due to his former owner's neglect. As a responsible pet parent, I will pay the *full* price.
