Unacceptable sudden and steep increases in premiums
I, like several other reviewers here, recently experienced a huge increase in premium (3x), an increase in deductible from 200 to 500, and lowered coverage 80% to 70%. In order to get the same coverages and deductible going forward, I would need to pay 300 total per month, from 72 (for two dogs)! I correct myself, that is more than a 4x increase!! I've read their responses to other reviewers, that the previous underwriter was increasing premiums year to year, and at least for me, that is NONSENSE! I had only received increases of 5 dollars or less per year per pet which seemed reasonable given their advancing age. But this recent change?? NOT OK! What a horrible way to treat loyal customers especially those who have made very few claims. Shame on you Figo, with your nonsense excuses and rationalizations!! Perhaps Figo lowered premiums for some owners/pets, but there's a definitive pattern emerging here among reviewers. If premiums were significantly raised only for the 'senior pets', to eliminate the risk by making it entirely illogical financially for the owner, or unaffordable, then that is truly despicable!! I will never ever recommend them again to people nor will I ever consider them for ANY future pets that I own.

A lifesaver!
I have all of our furkids insured through Trupanion. They have always been extremely easy to work with and every person I’ve ever spoken to at Trupanion is nicer than the one before. This past fall my five year old dog was diagnosed with cancer. She had to have a huge surgery at the University of Minnesota and multiple CT scans. I also chose to have her go through a month of daily radiation there as well. It was an exhausting and scary time. When I called Trupanion to talk to a representative about what would be covered, the rep was so incredibly kind and helpful. She had a genuine concern for Mulligan and went over and above what she needed to do. I was so grateful for her kindness and for how much she helped me. I would, and do, recommend Trupanion to anyone looking for pet insurance. I have been a customer for 8-9 years and have never once had a single problem with a claim. And if, God forbid, one of your furkids ever really gets hurt or become very ill, I cannot tell you how comforting it is to not have to worry about the unbelievable cost of care.

Really glad we had pet insurance this year!
When we adopted Cody from the Animal Shelter I immediately signed him up for pet insurance through my employer. I never imagined that we would have claims this first year! Surprisingly, Cody ended up with an injury in his back and a weird growth on his eye! Both episodes cost just over $1,000 EACH. I submitted the invoices and medical records and was quickly sent an electronic funds transfer! I so appreciated that! We did not have the money in our budget this year for those expenses. I was really glad I bought this insurance plan and I highly recommend it to friends and family!
