Best pet ins., pymts and pre-approvals
Having two dogs with knee injuries, Trupanion made payment prior to being discharged for the 1st surgery and has pre-approved for the 2nd surgery scheduled next month. Our veterinarian accepts Trupanion so they will bill Trupanion and we pay after Trupanion's payment.

Amazingly easy, super efficient, unbelievable turn around of claim processing and receiving payment.
My husband told me not to continue with the insurance after our free month from the breeder. I decided to continue with it as the monthly premiums were very reasonable. We had a chocolate lab that passed away two years ago from cancer and the bills were ridiculous. Our puppy was from a very reputable breeder so his thought was "What could go wrong?" At about 6 1/2 months our puppy started to limp. He's a very active little guy and our vet thought that it might be a bruise. After 10 days the limp continued and we saw an orthopedic specialist. Our little guy was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia. So glad I kept the insurance. There is no guarantee that your puppy is going to be free of any disease or defect. We did everything right and i wouldn't trade my love bug in for anything. I cant say how amazingly simple Trupanion has made our life. We paid our deductible and they paid the 90% as quoted. I just emailed the bill for his surgery on Friday and it was approved Sunday morning and payment is on its way. This has been a very incredible experience for me and needless to say my husband is thankful that i didn't listen to him for a change:) Thank you Trupanion for making our experience amazing. I would absolutely recommend Trupanion to anyone that is planning on adopting a companion.

Good service, takes long tine to process claims
Good service and easy app interface. Gave 3 stars as it takes a lot longer than it used to for processing claims and reimbursement, even with direct deposit.

their motto: hell no we won't pay...
"Hell no, we won't pay..." That's their motto. Pets Best is the most dishonest and despicable company ever. Nowhere in my policy states that reimbursement for euthanasia is contingent to a preexisting condition, namely my beagle's liver cancer. The company already denied all but one of the claims because of a trivial lab result which was rebuked by 2 of my veterinarians in 2 appeals; but to deny the reimbursement for euthanasia was the last straw. On top of that, Pets Best billed me twice in January after I notified them that my beagle Nicky was euthanized on December 12. The company sent me a run of the mill condolence card and a check for one of the charges, not the 2. I requested my credit card company to reverse the outstanding charge as I expected their refusal to honor my dispute, and now I see that they were able to counter the chargeback. Keep in mind I will still go after that refund and I will publish a more detailed experience with this horrible company. My advice: if you have an older dog or cat, set aside a fund for them, like an HSA for your pets; don't buy pet insurance. ALL INSURANCE companies will find a way to reject a claim by flagging any trivial lab result or incident (e.g., if your dog had an ear infection, they will deny a claim for the treatment of a cough years later). If an ailment was covered in a given year, it will excluded from coverage in the next renewal; ALL PET INSURANCE COMPANIES DO THIS.
