2 Operations, 2 days, NO HASTLES
My 11 year old Lab shattered his leg. first surgery to repair, two days later another to amputate the leg. Over $15000.00 and I paid only my deductable of $500.00. No problems, no questions, just paid almost immediately. Can't say enough good about Trupanion.

Best pet insurance on the planet!
Trupanion is a refreshing and professional organization to deal with. Claims are conveniently entered online and there is is an almost immediate response from the Trupanion staff. Claims are quickly adjudicated and funds are sent directly to my checking account. No surprises. No disappointments.

The Best!
I am very pleased with the way Simon's claims are handled. Having to deal with a very young dog with serious issues is stressful enough and knowing that Trupanion is thorough and fast and completes claims within a few days is appreciated. No hassles just excellant service.

Unreasonably broad and unclear exclusions
My puppy got pneumonia within a couple days of the end of the waiting period for pre-existing conditions. Based on that, after months of not approving any claims, the finalized a review of my puppy’s medical history and responded with the broadest possible interpretation of what would be excluded based on his illness as a puppy. The claims adjuster said that they would not actually enforce the limitations as broadly as the exclusions are written because they “try to cover” as many claims as they can. Clearly, that’s not the case if they even have pre-existing conditions exclusions to begin with. More importantly, I basically have no idea at this point what my policy covers. They can’t explain what is covered so I know if I can bring my puppy to the vet and have coverage for him. And, if I bring him in for anything that falls under those absurdly broad exceptions and they decide not to cover it, the clock resets on his exclusions. Basically, at this point, I have no confidence that I can afford my pet’s care and I can’t change my insurance because, since they took so long to come back with their terrible and overly broad interpretation of exclusions, there would now be additional exclusions for pre-existing conditions if I went with a competitor. If, as your representatives say, you try to cover as much as you can for your members, then just do that and provide them the confidence that their pets will receive the care they deserve. Excluding pneumonia makes sense. Excluding every possible symptom that could be related to any respiratory infection is a way to minimize coverage, maximize profits, put pets at risk, and increase the financial burden put on pet owners. The company’s response below perfectly illustrates the problem. They’re writing these exclusions so that they can deny coverage on anything related to diarrhea, vomiting, coughing, eye discharge, or any upper respiratory infection for 1 year whether or not those symptoms are related to what my puppy was actually sick from during the incident in question. He could get any of those symptoms from a WIDE variety of illnesses. If he gets any of those symptoms and I take him to a vet, not only do I likely bear the full cost, Embrace gets to reset the clock on these “short term” exclusions. Representatives from the company would say they would never do such a thing and would only refuse coverage if...something, something...that they can’t explain. Why should I believe you? Also if, as you said in your reply, you just “have to comply” with all the fine print you hope your customers don’t notice when they sign up for a policy, then please don’t say that you try to cover everything. You don’t. And you haven’t provided any clarity on what is covered. In reality, your organization has made choice to exclude coverage in the broadest terms possible. Don’t hide behind “have to” when these situations are a result of conscious organizational choices to enhance company profitability at the expense of your customers and their pets.

Coverage
My furbaby was recently diagnosed with lymphosarcoma and I immediately started chemo treatments for him without any hesitation. The claim submissions for his treatments, meds and supplements have been handled very smoothly. Especially with the appeal I had to do yesterday. I’ve been with Trupanion for several years, and I’m very pleased with the easy use of the mobile app and the great customer service I’ve received. Phinnaeus graduates from the CHOP program on June 1 with his last treatment and I’m so thankful that during this very stressful time, I can count on this wonderful insurance 🙏🐾♥️

Processing taking to long
I had to call at 28 days to ask why my claim was taking so long to process. I was told that due to the pandemic they weren’t properly staffed and were training new employees because they knew that a 39 day turnaround was to long. I don’t accept that answer as this is a job that can very easily be done remotely. They did expedite my claim after I called but it still leaves me very concerned. I don’t want an insurance that I have to call after filing the claim unless it’s for additional information they need.

Historically Pet's Best has been great
Historically Pet's Best has been great. But recently not so much. I am told my email or password is wrong. Then when I call the wait times are longer than a 100 year war. My take is Pet's Best is having cash flow issues and is pushing out claims. I am sorry for the great people who in the past provided wonderful service. I hope you get your act together as there is a real need fo your service.

We Love Trupanion!!
We purchased our policy with Trupanion when our dog was about 8 weeks old - it was something we hadn’t done for previous pets but thought it might help should she experience illness or injury. Our 2 year old Bernese has experienced some health issues for the last year that were difficult to diagnose. She has had a number of exploratory procedures and tests over the last year at a number of veterinary specialists, ultrasound clinics, and the Ontario Veterinary Clinic at Guelph University. Trupanion was very helpful during the exploratory and testing stages which saw us send many invoices to be considered for payment over a long period of time with only one deductible. We finally received a diagnosis after spending a few thousand dollars. Needless to say this experience caused stress over our dogs health as well as the financial burden. Trupanion provided moral and financial support throughout this stressful year. The great customer service and financial support we received from Trupanion allowed us to concentrate on our dog’s well being. Thank you Trupanion for being there when we needed you!
