Peace of mind
After our family lost our 8 year old Golden retriever to cancer, We purchased VPI. When we brought Melody home as a puppy. My husband was very skeptical until at three Melody went up for a frisbee and came down in a hole with a torn Acl. VPI payed for exactly what the policy said they would pay for, the process was easy and the checks were paid fairly quickly. We added our puppy Harmony also a Golden to the policy . With high energy dogs like Goldens, VPI allows us to feel like we can handle emergencies if they occur.

scam - VPI exists for the $, not the pets
I've been a paying customer of a Premium Plan for SIX YEARS at $50 a month. My dog has been relatively healthy for that whole period. Last month, my dog got cancer, to the tune of $2000. A deadly cancer called hemangiosarcoma. She needed bloodwork, cytology report, meds, and ultimately surgery to remove the rapidly growing tumor. When I submitted the expenses, they covered only $560 of my entire bill!!! They told me that my "Premium Plan" was old and had not been updated since 2008 for any adjustments and therefore only this small amount was cover and that they surgery itself was NOT covered. I was outraged! After speaking with the first customer agent, I asked to talk with her supervisor. After getting the run around from the second, I said I wanted to talk to underwriting and they said they do not allow customers to talk to the underwriting department. Then I said I wanted the president's information, so they forwarded me to the "customer advocate" for the president. After 3 very heated calls, she phoned me back the next day and told me that underwriting was correct and that they would not pay any more on my claim. I am canceling my policy.

Flexible and Helpful
Great company....initial claim was partially paid. Upon discussions Embrace reversed their earlier decision and paid the entire amount in my favor. This showed a flexiblity and common sense approach that overcame what might have been a bureaucratic headache.
Kudo's and high marks. Rating would have been a 10 if claim was resolved a little faster.....may have been delayed with the holiday tho.

Grateful to have VPI
I am so grateful to have VPI Major Medical Plan. My dog had to have a TPLO for her complete ACL tear. The procedure was expensive but VPI covered everything minus the tax (but who cares!) If you love your pet and think in the future, VPI is way to go.

Excellent service! Better than expected.
Our dog was very sick and had to spend the night at the emergency clinic for treatment. We were never able to find out whether it was a toxin or a rogue virus. The vet bill was high, but Healthy Paws came through for us with 80% of the cost within a week of filing our claim. Also, I love being able to submit claims on-line. the process was flawless.

A company full of friends
My dog suffered complete cranial cruciate ligament rupture and had to have surgery to repair her knee. On the day the vet hospital submitted the paperwork for the claim, I received an email from the company telling me that the claim was being processed. The next day I was told the check was in the mail. I was amazed at how quickly my claim was handled. I want to add that every time I have communicated with the company, they have been friendly and caring. I have great confidence in them.

Best decision ever made
This insurance is absolutely the best. They do exactly what they promise they will regarding coverage. I love how fast they respond and process everything. I wouldn't have it any other way. Me and my pet are very satisfied.

Amazing, honest coverage
In their leaflet, Trupanion talks about how they won't deny coverage just because a dog is unlucky. Unfortunately, I have that previously unlucky dog.
But Fortunately, and thanks to Trupanion, my pug has become incredibly lucky and happy and healthy.
I am eternally GRATEFUL to the honest and wonderful people at Trupanion for the extensive coverage they provided. My pug is awesome now an looks like a puppy again, and everyone on the streets of NYC comments on that.
Trupanion covered everything they promised to, did so cheerfully, and quickly. Amazing.
I implore everyone who gets a dog to get insurance. If you can afford a dog, you can afford insurance, and it's the right thing to do. And if you do, please give Trupanion a serious look. They're amazing.
