Not worth it
I have had Trupanion since we got our dog Milo 10 years ago. We never had any claims as he was always healthy. Now that he is seriously ill Trupanion nickels and dimes with us about covering his treatment. Even a signed letter by the Vet does not change any of their predetermined determinations. I am very disappointed not just with the non-covarege but also the way the this insurance company deals with pet owners during a time that is already hard. I would recommend anyone to not sign up with Trupanion as it just increases the pain during the time of need. The monthly fee put into a savings account would have been soooo much more helpful than arguing with non medical workers regarding the treatment decision of a Vet.

Totally worth the premiums
Pets Best for me is totally worth the cost of premiums. Without it I would be in the position of having to decide whether or not to give my cats needed care, as I could not afford expensive vet care myself. I do wish it did not take quite as long for reimbursements to come through, but I appreciate that they take time to consider each claim carefully.

Don’t waste your money or time
I guess environmental allergies include everything no matter what. Yes, before I bought the policy, Pippa had broken out on her belly from what we thought could be grass or pollen and she was allergic to flea bites. I found that out when she started scratching and, although she was on flea medication, it had stopped working. The claim I turned in to this company was for yeasty ears. Red and inflamed. Nothing like the ones the year before and it was denied. Would not recommend.

Pumpkin is an Absolute scam
Pumpkin is an Absolute scam. I’m out ALL of the premiums I paid. I found out they have exclusion lists THAT ARE NOT listen in the contract. They call it “proprietary information.” It’s where the company can deny your claim based on “private company knowledge.” For example. IVVD and wobblers is considered curable with the surgery. Those conditions are listed on their “private list” As incurable. Therefore they will not cover them and they do not say they will not cover! I’m out over $1000!!! Just wanted to let everyone know before they throw away thousands and their pet is left with nothing if they get one of the unlisted conditions that no one knows about!

Absolute scam, they even admitted to being misleading.
SCAM!!!! THIS COMPANY WILL NOT COVER MANY CONDITIONS THAT ITS CONTRACT STATES IT WILL!!!! They call it “proprietary information.” Their private list they say allows them not not cover IVVD, wobblers and other conditions. No where in your contract does it say this. A represantive openly admitted to me over the phone they are misleading customers! I’m out over $1000 for bogus coverage and they refused to give me any money back at all for my premiums paid even though they NEVER spent a penny on my dog ever!!! Now they won’t do anything and just stole my money! I’ve reported to BBB and waiting on a response! DO NOT get this insurance. If your dog gets one of their many “unlisted exclusions” you will be out the money potentially thousands of you buy it on a younger dog!!! BEWARE!

Fantastic coverage at a very trying time
Our little girl was diagnosed with lymphoma in May. Trupanions service is spectacular. I send an invoice in and it's typically paid within 10 business days or less. While we cannot cure her we can give her the best days possible.

Woah- RUDEST customer service rep
I called to cancel because we decided to go with a different insurance plan, and Joe is who “helped” me cancel. He was so rude, said “we’ll I *hope* nothing horrible or deadly happens to your cat, she would not be covered with that company”. Uhhhhh, what the hell? That was rude! I explained we were simply not interested, and he was very rude. Kept going on about my cats health. Just absolutely unprofessional.

Good Plan
We have had this insurance on our pet for 5 years, since we got her as a puppy. The first year, she required surgery for orthopaedic disease of her shoulder at a specialist. Since then she has developed allergies which requires on going medications, treatment of ear infections, allergy testing, special diets. This insurance has allowed me to provide best care for my pet. My monthly premiums have been reasonable and not increased with claims. It is true that reimbursement can take a few weeks, but my auto insurance claims have taken much longer! It is also on the purchaser to ensure the coverage is what they are wanting. Read the policy! Pre-existing conditions will not be covered. This just makes since or everyone’s premiums would be huge. There are also things that won’t be covered-read the dental exclusions. It is on the consumer to do the research. There are many pet insurance providers, make sure you are comparing the different products available. I have my pet insured with Pets Plus Us, but insured my Mom’s dog with a different company based on Mom’s needs. Last piece of advice is most important, get insurance when your dog is a puppy with a clean bill of health. That way there will be no exclusions on your policy.
