Feel like it's worth it
After reviewing multiple insurance companies, I felt this the most affordable option with the best options for all 3 of my pets. I certainly hope I don't have to use the insurance, but I've had instances in the past where I've spent thousands of dollars on pet illnesses or injuries because I didn't have insurance on them.

We added Lily to our family in December…
We added Lily to our family in December 2019. We rescued her as a pup from texas and loved her the moment we saw pics of her. She was only a few months old when she started showing signs of pain /weakness in her back legs and was getting less interested in playing and even eating . We took her to our vet who ran some tests to rule out lyme disease and other possible issues. Perfect blood work, negative on the lyme disease. The next steps would be an x ray to check out her hips. We were saddened to hear she had a severe case of hip displasia in both back legs. Our vet didn't know we had insurance coverage and she was talking to us as though we would need to put her down because the costs are extensive and she would only get worse without surgery - even medication would only offer so much comfort. I can see how this can be the worst news a new pet owner can hear. She was only 5 months old after all. knowing we had the insurance, I called trupanion and asked some questions and can't tell you how caring the customer service advisors were and how much they really cared! We proceeded with surgery on both hips and Lily is doing so well today. She is running and playing and yes she has limitations BUT she has so much quality back from the surgery. Trupanion allowed us to focus on our pet and not on our finances. Thank you Trupanion for being there when we needed you!

Not worth the stress
When I first signed up with Trupanion the representative was extremely nice. All the claims I have submitted have been denied. It is completely impossible to get a straight answer from a representative as to why the claims are denied. I would not recommend signing up for this insurance they claim to cover/help with your pets health but in fact EVERYTHING for them is denied.

Won't cover expense because 13 week old puppy doesn't have old enough dental records.
Enrolled our puppy before picking him up and brought him home. Took him to the Vet one week later for a checkup where they said he needed dental surgery. Trupanion won't cover the costs because they didn't have a baseline for an 8 week old puppy. Not worth the highest insurance rate I pay (higher than truck, house, life insurance etc). Will be canceled and cannot recommend
