First time I have used Trupanion…
First time I have used Trupanion and all went smoothly. Customer service on phone was kind and informative. Had one day response to claim. Hopefully I will not have other emergencies with my dog, but it gave me peace of mind knowing I had the insurance with this incident. It is stressful enough having a pet emergency but worrying how you will pay for it only adds to the stress. I highly recommend. I did not have insurance with previous pet and am now glad I have it with this one.

Ease of mind to have assurrance you can do the best care in any medical crisis!
I have a GWP that is a year old and knowing the history of the breed to be known as eating anything in sight I started shopping around for pet insurance. I did a lot of comparison with other insurances and spoke with other GWP owners. Hands down this is the best insurance! Processing of the claims and money back in my pocket 3 - 7 business days. And trust me the premium you pay each month is well worth it!

Why the monthly service charge?
I checked with few other pet insurance companies and the prices were the same. I went with ASPCA since I have donated to them thru the years. I don't think it is reasonable to charge a $2 a month service fee....what are you servicing?

I was very happy to find your monthly cost for my dog needs were very reasonable. The only negative experience is the time it takes to answer your phone and then still have to wait thru numerous codes before you get to a human representative. Also I emailed a question and the response takes up to four days. My question was not complicated just wanted to know if discounts were available for retired army disabled veterans. Well again it’s either wait on the phone or wait for the email.

Claims make your premiums skyrocket
Healthy Paws has always been fair with price and service for 7 years, until I had 2 claims for my Standard Poodle 2 years ago. He is 12 years old and the surgery and care saved his life, but after filing a claim his premium went from $70 a month to $100 then a year after that to $180 a month. I now have a dog I cant afford the insurance payments for that will not get coverage anywhere else. Healthy Paws was happy to keep my premium low while I had no claims, but once I needed the insurance they made sure I wouldn't keep it.
