Excellent Enrollment Process
Having the peace of mind of knowing that my pet is covered in the event of an emergency is very comforting. Signing up for Trupanion was very easy and took very little time to get set up. Even better, when I saw the prices for coverage, I was pleasantly surprised at how much it costs for pet insurance. Choosing my deductible was also a great feature of the signup process. Overalll a really nice experience.

My claim for in grown claws was declined based on vet mentioning my dig had claws growing towards pad during 30 day waiting period.

All dogs have claws growing towards their pads. This is not a reason to deny a claim for a future claw problem. I’ll likely be moving to a better insurance soon. I will also be posting my negative review on as many websites as possible to let others know how bad your product is

Pet insurance doesn't make sense for everyone but if someone is looking for a good company, I would recommend Trupanion. I did a lot of research and comparisons and you guys make it very clear as to why you don't cover routine care and it made sense to me. The companies that do cover routine costs seem to use that as a way to lure you in to use their company but they have limits on emergency care and claims and Trupanion does not. Trupanion also has a very different definition of what a pre-existing condition is. Why would I pay thousands of dollars for dog insurance over a few years, if my dog needs an ACL replacement surgery on one or both legs but the insurance caps out at $3000 or $5000? The way most companies describe a pre existing condition is anything even potentially related to their breed, even if it is a rescue mixed breed. The list of what they will not cover is unbelievably higher than what they will cover. Most of the other dog insurance companies I researched tripled their rates after the age of 5! These few reasons were absolute proof that most of the bigger, dog insurance companies, (Allstate), is nothing but a scam and it is very clearly robbery. Any insurance company is clearly in the business of making money but at least with Trupanion, my pets well being is covered within reason. I hope some day pet insurance will be more affordable for more people and their pets. Every person with a love for animals and a loving home to give, should be able to receive some sort of assistance with vet care. I spend $500/year on annual/routine care only for each dog. I can only afford insurance for one of my dogs because the other one is 5 years old and the monthly payment is astronomical for every pet insurance company I received a quote for. I adopted my 5year old dog at 3 months old and realized after the fact that he had 2 crushed knees, most likely from abuse or an accident, I was told by his vet. I spent $8,000.00 (not includingeds), fixing his hind legs, and we spent a year going through excruciating rehabilitation. My yearly income is considered poverty level, this was not something I could afford... I had to borrow money from a family member and go into credit card debt to help this dog that had been so loving and so sweet to anyone and everyone lucky enough to meet him. We only realized his condition because his hind end wasn't growing at the same rate as the rest of his body. This was an OLD injury and he spent a year without complaining about it. I would have sold everything I own to take his pain away without euthanasia, especially since he was so young and full of life! I know of people having to euthanize young pets, because of a surgery that costs half of what I paid, but they can't come up with that kind of cash in an instant. If my dog is lost, and happened to be hit by a car, a vet is much more likely to treat my pet with emergency surgery if possible vs. euthanasia, if they scan it's microchip and can confirm the pet is insured. Trupanion is more realistic and transparent about their coverage than the other companies I researched.

I've never really believed in insurance coverage for my doggo's in years past plus I've only heard 1st hand bad stories about pet insurance companies. I was hesitant to sign up after reading many experiences on the BBB website that weren't promising about Trupanion. Fast forward two plus years and I'm beyond grateful that I took a chance! The peace of mind i have is worth every penny! Filling claims and reimbursement have gone smooth as silk. Thank yous for taking beyond excellent care of Roachie and myself! We adore you!??

It’s ridiculous that the $125 examination fee is not covered. Isn’t that necessary in order to treat my Maui?
