Life Saving!
I don't know what we would do without VPI! My Shih Tsu is more than just my furry child - he is a life saver. He has helped me identify some of my medical conditions and became a service dog for me when he turned two. VPI has made it possible for me to save his life the way he did mine. I don't know how we would have afforded the care he has needed without it!!! This is a must have for your most faithful friend!

So far great insurance
When I got BoomBoom ( my dog) I was warned that Frenchies are close to the top of the list with medical problems. Since he was 4 months old I thought it would be good to get insurance right away. My vet recommended Nationwide so I went with her suggestion. Luckily he’s been deemed healthy, no throat issues etc. Still I’m so glad that he has insurance if needed Thanks

Getting started
New puppy, and new insurance for her - including wellness benefit. First vet appointment went well. She is healthy - just some parasites from her mother. Nationwide took almost one month to process our first claim - I had my last dog insured through Nationwide when it was VPI for 11 years, and my claims were processed quickly and thoroughly. I hope that this can improve in the future.

I think Trupanion is great.
I think Trupanion is great. I wish there were an out of pocket expense cutoff. They are very good at explaining the overage when you call and helping you understand the statements better. The cost of the insurance has gone up at intervals as has everything else except my retirement pension. I love my dogs and would do anything for them and that is why I have the insurance.

Coverage and reimbursement is really helpful
Coverage and reimbursement is really helpful but it can take a while to get enrolled and start processing claims. Also has pre-existing condition exclusion and is not valid outside of North America, which might not make it a good fit for some of my friends and family.
