As you can see from my files, I just lost my one cat due to bladder problems, and now that her sister has the same problem, it very much upsets me that each time I have to take her in for an emergency type exam to see what's happening, I have to pay the $85.00 exam charge, each and every time, which has been twice already in the past couple of weeks, just for the surviving sister alone. I totally understand that exams are not covered for yearly checkups, needles, or for any non-threatening reason, but when your pet has to be rushed in for something you already have noted on her file that she suffers from, it doesn't seem fair to the pet owner, to pay out-of-pocket for this exam charge EACH AND EVERYTIME, which in my case could be a weekly occurrence. I purchased the most amount of insurance I could in order to have what I thought, would cover anything that comes along; ESPECIALLY EMERGENCIES FOR DIAGNOSED CONDITIONS. I'm on an old-age pension that doesn't go far, and this frequent additional $ 85.00 exam charge that can unexpectedly pop up anytime with her, will mean some staple I will have to go without. I don't think this is fair; especially when I adopted these two as kittens, saving them from being put to sleep due to the over population of cats. Rescued animals, or animals living with life-threatening conditions SHOULD BE COVERED.

I've had Trupanion for many years for all my pets... over time the response time to alerting claims have been received and the process time of larger claims has diminished. Lately claims there seems to be a rash of "the claim was not received... delayed or the email attachment was missing ( when it was not or return emails stating the claim was received). Considering the premiums go up every renewal year, I would have thought Customer Service would have improved.

Good to work with
So far Trupanion has been good to work with. The only thing that I find confusing are the disclaimers in the policy regarding which services are covered for my pat. For instance, my kitty has to have dental surgery for lesions and I'm still not entirely sure if it will be covered under my plan. Kayla suggested that West Coast Vet reach out to you in advance of my cat's procedure in order to get pre-approval, which is a good idea. :)
