Couldn't Be Happier with Trupanion

Our lab was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancerous malenoma on his toe which required amputation. In addition, the cancer had spread to the bone so there was a chance that the cancer had an opportunity to spread throughout the rest of his body. We started out by getting the amputation and then a series of x-rays and cancer treatment. Not only was the submission of the insurance claim with Trupanion easy, we were reimbursed in a short time and we even received emails from Trupanion checking in to make sure our dog was doing ok. Every person that I know who has an animal I will be telling to use Trupanion and I am forever greatful to them and how simple they made the process during such a difficult time.

low stress claim process

Having used several other pet insurance carriers of the last 10+ years, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quick and efficient way in which our claims were handled. It took away an aspect of stress that you don't need when you're dealing with a pet's surgery.

Fine Print Deductible

Went in to see the vet with my four month old puppy with diarrhea and several other complaints. Bill tallied up to 1200$ and I was thinking "thank goodness I opted for insurance" however my $600 deductible is per issue and they broke down my claim into four different (but all connected to diarrhea ultimately) medical issues. They covered nothing and my deductible isn't close to being met on any of those issues so when I go next week for my follow up nothing will be covered still. Why am I giving them $50 a month if they won't help me get my puppy healthy. I am obviously frustrated but Trupanion might be more helpful if you choose to have no deductible but watch out for the monthly rate you'll have!

Our puppy had a broken leg. We emailed the 1 completed form and all the vet notes and detailed bill from the hospital. Trupanion contacted our other vet for full chart notes and then in about 10 days the check was already in my hands. Couldn't be easier.

Trupanion Health Insurance

We adopted a 14 month old German Shepard 2 years ago. Our trainer recommended Trupanion insurance because she has three dogs and said it was the best by far that she had found. I took him to our vet for a complete health checkup and he was given clean bill of health. I signed him up with Trupanion and did not think too much about it. Six months ago he was diagnosed with severe hip displaysia and the vet recommended total hip replacement surgery on both hips. I submitted a claim to Trupanion for everything, xrays, meds etc., along with a pre-authorization request for the surgery. Trupanion approved the surgery, and per our policy the only thing they did not cover at that point was the office checkup. The surgeon wanted to wait and see how long we could manage the problem with diet, meds and supplements before he had to have surgery. Since surgery authorizations are for 90 days, I contacted Trupanion and they assured me that Titan would be covered whenever the vet determined necessary. I would recommend this pet insurance to anyone who loves their pet. Under the terms laid out in the level of insurance I have purchased, the Trupanion staff have been great to work with and have always held true to the promises made. I purchase this insurance mainly as a safeguard against a devastating illness or accident and my experience with this company has been that it's well worth the cost of the premiums for the peace of mind those premiums provide. Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
