Trupanion pets lead longer happier lives.1 Pets insured with Trupanion lived longer than pets without Trupanion because pet parents didn’t have to worry about the cost of the care their pet needed. Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). They have transformed the way pet insurance handles claims by eliminating the reimbursement process. Trupanion was founded in Canada and provides bets-in-class coverage and is dedicated to helping pets we love get the care they need. They’ve been around for more than 20 years, making them experts and setting standards for the industry. One perk of this, and what they pride themselves on, is the amount they pay out to pet owners for each claim. Paying out more on the dollar than any other pet insurance provider. To date they have paid out $2 Billion in claims and have insured nearly 1 million pets. To put it simply, there is a reason why 98.7% of Trupanion members stay enrolled every month. 1Based on a December, 2020 Trupanion study analyzing third party hospital claims data comparing pets insured with a Trupanion policy to pets without a Trupanion policy. *Terms and conditions apply. I recommend Trupanion and I give them an A+

My last pet of 10 years was an Italian Greyhound named Bailey. He had developed a serious chest infection that required surgery and extensive medication, which had become very expensive. After about 6 months he made a turn for the worse and he passed away. I recently welcomed a new Italian Greyhound puppy into my family. His name is Murphy. I took Murphy to my veterinarian for his puppy check up. Knowing of the expense I incurred during Bailey’s illness, my veterinarian told me about Trupanion . After reading the information, I decided to sign Murphy up using the 30-day certificate with no waiting period. Murphy now has medical insurance and is covered for all accidents and illnesses. Soon after making the first month premium payment,Murphy broke his leg. It was on a holiday so I rushed him to an Emergency Animal Hospital. To make a long story short, Trupanion came through like a champ. I signed up for Trupanion May 21, 2014, I made my first premium payment June 20, Murphy broke his leg July 4 and they operated July 7. I notified Trupanion and they took it from there. They paid 90% less the initial exam, my deductable and my 10%. On July 14, Trupanion deposited their 90% into my checking--over $3,200.00. They will continue paying 90% until Murphy is released--unbelievable!I highly recommend Trupanion. They have been excellent to work with. Their staff are very courteous, friendly and caring. They also follow up to see how Murphy is doing. What more could you ask for? I give them an A+.

Will Say Anything To Deny A Claim

I adopted my cat from a shelter a year ago. She was underweight and I wanted to make sure she was ok, so took her straight to the vet. The vet wanted to do bloodwork due to her weight, and kept her overnight. While there, after being taken from a shelter to a new cage, and fed different food, she vomited a bit of the new food. Bloodwork and a urinalysis ruled out the beginnings of kidney disease (this is noted on her records as ruled out), and she was deemed fine, just thin. I got insurance through Trupanion, after much research, right after I'd adopted her, but it didn't kick in for the 30 days, so didn't cover her original visit, which I knew. After she came home, she had a couple of instances of vomiting (she is, after all, a cat), once from eating what seemed to be a bad can of food, once from eating some hair and throwing it right back up, etc. As I was a new pet parent, worried about her, I called the clinic to ask about these things. The clinic noted that I'd called and for what in her file. This year, she was seen for constipation and blood and urinalysis determined she did have kidney disease. I put in claims for this visit and the special food she's now on. These claims were all denied because of... vomiting. She was not vomiting before the visit that ended up diagnosing her, and previously, kidney disease had been ruled out. When I was on the phone with the claims rep meant to explain this seeming discrepancy to me, she said that they'd denied the claim because it was a preexisting condition - despite the bloodwork and urinalysis ruling it out previously, because she had previously vomited, which can be a symptom of kidney disease. The woman said that if I could provide medical evidence that the kidney disease was not preexisting, they'd reconsider. I pointed out that it would seem blood and urine tests ruling out kidney disease were medical evidence. But, I was told, there was vomiting! I asked if vomiting was somehow the definitive marker for kidney disease, even when clinical testing ruled it out. Oh, that's not what she was saying, she assured me, but my cat had vomited even after I'd gotten insurance. Yes, so? "That shows the disease was progressing." The... disease that was clinically ruled out? The one she didn't have? It was progressing? Yes, I was told. I asked, if I had a fever, and was checked for Ebola, and the clinical test for it came back negative, and I was shown to have no Ebola virus in my bloo

Trupanion Paid $30,867 in less than a year

Hello, I just read through some of the reviews for Trupanion and I can't believe anyone would have anything but great things to say about this company. My experience has been 100% positive. I read a couple of the negative reviews that Trupanion didn't pay for hardly anything. What I tell people is, don't wait until your pet has a condition. Get the insurance just in cast. When I share my story I am amazed when people say I will wait until my pet is older. Big mistake, it's a gamble because animals get sick when they are young also. I just got lucky because I signed up when my dog was completely healthy with no health issues and he was older. I was in Pet Food Express in Mill Valley, CA and one of the staff recommended pet insurance for my 10 year old Doberman. Hugh was in excellent health and I could not for see him ever having any health issues however, I wanted to make sure if he did I could give him the very best care without worrying about the cost of care. If you are looking for pet insurance I can't say enough great things about Trupanion. Trupanion reimbursed $30,867 in less than a year for my 12 year old Doberman Hugh. My deductible was $500 and they paid 90% after the deductible with no limit. The service is also amazing. Each time I called, I have had a very friendly healthful representative. The company is made up of animal lovers. I signed up with Trupanion on July 10th, 2012. Hugh was diagnosed with an Osteosarcoma (bone cancer in his back leg) August 12th, 2013. I scheduled surgery with an orthopedic surgeon in San Francisco. They amputated his leg August 14th. Trupanion called right after the surgery to ask, how's Hugh doing? Not once was the amount of his care brought up. They were genuinely concerned about how he was doing. The bills for the week of surgery were over $9000 and then they continued because I had to act fast because they gave him less than 6 months to live if I did not do chemo. Even though Trupanion would pay for chemo which is very expensive, I did not want to go this route for treatment. I choose to treat Hugh holistically and Trupanion paid for all the holistic care and supplements that the vet prescribed. After a few weeks of recovery I put him into rehab. Hydro therapy, Acupuncture and Chiropractic. Trupanion paid 90% of all his therapy because, I had purchased the additional rider. Hugh had an amazing year but, the cancer finally caught with him July 25th, 2014. Thanks t

Well worth the price!

Great insurance. Claims handled promptly and payment received quickly. I was not sure about getting the insurance, but decided I'd try it for several months. Really glad I did. I stepped on my mini doxie who we had just adopted 2 weeks earlier and she ended up with a small fracture of the shoulder. Conservative treatment (crate rest) was recommended, but Trupanion would also have covered 90% of the surgery cost (surgery would have been $2,200), if it had been needed. As it was, they covered most of the emergency vet visit and her medication. Sally is doing very well and has healed completely! I'm keeping the insurance!
