Petsecure | Pet Insurance Review

Honestly don't even bother. Petsecure insurance is the biggest scam out there. Every time something is submitted there's an excuse for everything about why it's not covered even though I called in and confirmed with an agent that what I was doing was covered. I thought regular insurance was bad, this will make you rage more than anything else. Stay away, save up $100 a month into savings incase something happens to your pet instead, don't even consider it.

Absolutely terrible. They're looking out for themselves just like any insurance company, but this is NEXT LEVEL. It took us more than TWO MONTHS to get any sort of response back for our claim, which was ridiculous because they have a 14 day guarantee or something like that. I tried emailing and calling multiple times: never heard back via email and i never got through by phone because hold times were like an hour plus. Then, they denied our claim because our dog's coronavirus (stomach bug) had a similar symptom to a food allergy he had months before (both times he had diarrhea even though the situations were totally unrelated). I totally understand pre-existing conditions aren't covered and I honor that, but beware: They will milk that "pre-existing condition" stipulation and will interpret that so broadly and cruelly that you'll be left with nothing and you will wonder why you're paying them every month.

So many flaws with this Insurance company, it's hard to know where to begin. GO WITH TRUPANION! If you do not take out the best Pet Secure Program #4, you are wasting your money. With Pet Secure #3 or less. They will only do one knee or one shoulder or one leg/year, up to a minimal amount in surgery; costs are much higher now. Your dog will have to wait until the next year to have the other one done if it fails in the same year or you will have to pay in full yourself. They reduce you to 50% as soon as your dog gets sick and needs surgery, etc. If you move up in the plan to the next level, anything done prior on a lower plan, is considered pre-existing and will only get covered for the previous plan amount. My Frenchie got sick, (on Plan #4), needed diagnostics, surgery, chemo infusions and medication, aside from any blood work and re-evaluations. They cut his 80% down in the middle of his treatment and he is only 7 years old, surgery before his 7th birthday. Sure they won't reduce you, if you hardly use them and continue to pay them the higher Premiums for a higher Plan. Don't go with this company. I'd rather pay a bit higher Premium and maintain 90% coverage with TRUPANION forever!!!!! THIS COMPANY DID NOT EVEN WARRANT GETTING A ONE STAR RATING IN MY BOOKS. SHAME ON THEM. BUT THEY MAKE YOU RATE THEM OR WILL NOT POST. TAKES FAR TOO LONG TO GET PAID, AS WELL!!! Their Underwriters are horrendous

My dog passed away 2 months ago and I have been able to speak to a customer service representative once, who told me to get the Vet to submit bills from the last 6 months, and to email the pet secure email to notify them the dog passed away as well. I did all those over 6 weeks ago and have only received automated email responses. I have tried 3 times to call them again, waited for over an hour each time and no answer. They have also taken monthly payments out for the policy twice since the dog died. I am going to have to call my credit card company and stop payment to them because they are totally stonewalling me. I would definitely not recommend this insurance company to anyone, the customer service is non existent.

My dog was injured. I was never informed about $500.00 deductions until my dog was taken to the vet. I called pet secure and got no satisfaction. The bill was $590.00. I had to pay the full amount.
