Young Dachsund with Unexepected and Urgent IVDD Issues

Our family has two young dachsunds (4.5 years old) and they were both seemingly perfectly healthy. We've had Pets' Best since they were puppies but had never expected to need them. Then in May 2025 our dog lost the use of his back legs abruptly. It turned out to be a ruptured disc in his spine and required emergency surgery to give him a chance at walking again. We were stressed and not sure what Pets' Best would or wouldn't cover. But they covered exactly what they said they would and gave us peace of mind to do what we needed to for our dog. He's sadly been plagued with this issue twice more this year, despite all our best efforts, but Pets' Best has been there to help each time. Really appreciate them!

Pets Best has been a lifesaver for one…

Pets Best has been a lifesaver for one of our dogs. We got the plan the day after we got him and when he was a year old he started having seizures and required specialized testing that cost almost $15,000. Without Pets Best, we wouldn’t have been able to pay for this without great hardship. The claims process is easy. I just wish they would add CBD oil to their formulary. Other insurance companies cover it and it has been the difference for our epileptic dog.

When my dog decided to blow her knee

When my dog decided to blow her knee, treatment was not to be delayed. Local vet diagnosed and coordinate a surgeon, her repair was done in less than two weeks. Pets Best covered $2700 of the $3200 charge in three weeks. This saved the financial shock of an unexpected expense. Both our pets are covered and I will always use Pets Best.

Consistent and clear coverage

My wife and I have 3 cats, 2 of which have been problematic at one time or another. We have 1 cat with chronic GI issues and another with pre-existing upper respiratory issues. Pets Best has been nothing but consistent and clear, covering everything for our GI cat (because we had her from a kitten), including numerous hospital visits. While Pets Best doesn't cover everything for our upper respiratory cat because it is a pre-existing condition, they don't use that against us to stop paying legitimate insurance claims for him. I'm always skeptical about insurance companies, but my experience with Pets Best has been nothing short of excellent. And I want to be clear - I've not been paid or incentivized for this, I'm simply impressed that an insurance company actually does what it says it will.

Hannah’s Eye Injury

Hannah hurt her eye in my backyard and gave herself a corneal ulcer. I hadn't had to file a claim so I called PetsBest and they were super nice and explained the process. The customer service reps have great customer service and are super nice and helpful. Thank you."

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
