Good insurance for an accident prone hound

Dylan is no stranger to emergency vets in two states. Pets Best insurance had been great for these unexpected visits. The plan is reasonably priced, and the claims process is very straight forward.

Good and Responsive Claims Service

My golden doodle princess required leg surgery and PetsBest paid the claim 17 days after submission. Quick and without any stress. Recommend this company, they follow through on their promises to be there when they are needed.

Great Pet Insurance

We love Pets Best insurance. I avoided buying pet insurance after the research I did and horror stories of denied claims. After doing chemo on 3 bulldogs and 4 TPLOs my wife said we needed to get it. A bulldogger friend recommended Pet's Best and after some research we purchased it for a rescue we adopted. Unfortunately we've had to file claims recently for our Pippa but Pet's Best is prompt at processing claims. They paid for having one eye removed and a $4k ICU stint for pulmonary hypertension. Not having a cap on coverage is huge. Many insurers cap claims at $10-20k/year but it's easy to spend $50k/year if you need cancer treatments. If you're hesitating about getting Pet's Best insurance, don't.

Great plans, slow claims processing

The claims process has been the only drawback I have experienced. It is easy to submit a claim and check the status, but claims have routinely taken several weeks to process. With previous pet insurance companies, the turnaround time was within a few days. I do like the wide variety of coverage options that are customizable and reasonably priced compared to competitors.

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
