Save your money.

WORST insurance ever. Just save your money for when you need to go to the vet. Really read what a “preexisting” condition is. They don’t need a formal diagnosis to deny something with that reason, which they’ll deny everything as a preexisting condition. I swear I could bring my dog in with a broken leg and it would say “dog had bones prior to policy start date.” Can’t get ahold of ANYONE from customer service. Waited forty five minutes on hold just to get hung up on. Took over a week to respond to my emails (multiple emails, got one response). SAVE. YOUR. MONEY.

Terrible

Stuck me with a surgery bill and didn't pay a single Penny. Accepted my pets after a very in depth phone conversation as well as submitting ALL of my pets medical records. Policy was in force 13 months prior to submitting my claim. The claim was denied for a " preexisting condition" nothing indicated in all of the records (4 years worth ) that would cause the claim to be denied. That is what the representative said on the phone interview when he was selling me the policy. Once the claim was filed they changed their mind. Unbelievable that this is allowed to go on.

Being new to the world of pet insurance…

Being new to the world of pet insurance I was not sure what to expect. Filing a claim was fairly easy. The reimbursement took over a month. I suspect this was in part due to needing to obtain notes from the veterinarian. This was explained when filing the claim so I was not surprised.

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Get a quote for specific information on waiting periods in your state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
