Good in theory

In theory the Major Medical plan would be good. But in reality they look for any loose association of conditions to preexisting ones and stretch it so they don’t pay the claim. Just be sure to get insurance from day 1 to avoid any preexisting conditions

glad i have pet insurance

I think pet insurance is a great thing. Nationwide does a good job. I question the amount reimbursed for allergy drug and how much I am reimbursed a year. I tried to cut back on the amount given to her (every other day vs every day) to try and reduce the cost, and she just ended up back at the vet, costing even more money. I wish they would look at case by case basis on what is needed more specifically for certain circumnutates. Thanks!

Good

Like the coverage, it has been very helpful since at times my dog has issues with ears and allergies. Making the monthly premiums does help when you get portions of what you spend bake at some time later to reimburse what you have spent. It seems like at times it takes a long while to get information back after sending in receipts to know what amount will be covered.

Have had coverage on all 3 of our pets for 3 years now and could not be happier with our coverage!!

Have had absolutely no problems with our coverage or claims over the past 3 years. We have one pet with severe allergies and one with athritis and Nationwide has been with us all the way in caring for them! Never had any problems with claims or coverage.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
