Nationwide will more than double the cost of your monthly plan

Incredibly disappointed in Nationwide. I started with Nationwide six years ago when I was working for a company that offered pet insurance through them. I have since left the company but stayed with Nationwide because they had done such a great job covering my pet. My costs went up incrementally each year but I was fine with that. This past year, my plan went from $140 a month to $260 with no notice other than the usual auto-renewal. I called because I was positive it was a mistake but nope. Cancelled my policy and found another one with more coverage at a fraction of the cost. It's really a shame because I was hoping they were better than that. Regarding the response, Nationwide has achieved record sales the last three years in a row so I don't think the rate increase is necessary for "competitive rates and comprehensive coverage." Which is fine. Businesses want to make a profit. But lets just be honest about that.

coverage denied

Denied for age limit stating my cat is 8 (he's barely 7). Sent proof of age. (I thought there was no age limit though....) Denied for congenital heart defect (which is stable and presents no symptoms.) I don't understand why that disqualifies him completely from any coverage! After several emails, I had to call three times for this entire hassle spanning a few weeks just to get denied for bull that should have been stated clearly on the application and not even have allowed me to click submit. --- Good Afternoon, I am sorry to hear of your enrollment experience. Nationwide does have non-enrollable medical conditions due to the secondary issues it can cause. At times, it is not that we want to deny enrollment, but we realize that a policy may not be the best financially for you or your pet. Thank you, Nancy --- I am certain it would be better financially to have insurance to cover the plethora of possible veterinary issues that could occur rather than not have insurance at all because it won't cover the relatively small amount of possibly related "secondary issues" (regardless whether they actually result from the initial medical condition.)

Owner

Worst process ever. I submitted a claim wich they took a very long time to review. According to them the claim was accepted and they said they mailed a check wich was never received. They also state that if they send you a check they have no way to track it. So basically…. They ripped me off and was directed to check with the mail service as it was their fault for losing the check

NATIONWIDE IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE

Though I'm not one of the thousands of customers dropped by nationwide, my rate went up$1200/yr to $3600/yr and my coverage dropped from 70% to 50%. I have the policy 8 years since my dog was a puppy. Not real happy.

Monthly Cost

Policies start at approximately $12 per month.
