Been a customer 13 years

Been a customer 13 years. Paid $600/month for years for multiple dogs to have care. My dog was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma in Sept 2024. I called Nationwide after her emergency splenectomy but before diagnosis. I was told she would be covered from the top of her nose to the tip of her tail by Angela for her cancer treatment/needs. I received a letter of non-renewal in early October (less than a month from Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis ). I learned on 12/30 that the policy was discontinued several months ago and posted in a USA Today article back in June which I never saw. Nationwide should have sent notices to affected customers in June 2024. The rep in September (Angela) should have told me it was coming. So many issues with how this company treated over 100,000 people and their pets! As a long time customer, I should have been provided another option to take care of my dog with an horrible, aggressive cancer! Instead I was told “sorry” and she is not coverable. They could have transferred her to another policy if they truly cared. She has been in their system since about 9 weeks old and just tossed aside like nothing!! Disgusting customer service! I know many veterinarians that have recently told me they will not support this company. Do your research and do not put your trust in this company!!! Do better for your pets!!

This is a warning from a member with 4…

This is a warning from a member with 4 pets over 10+ years I have been a menber with Nationwide pet insurance when it used to be VPI pet insurance. I had a plan that was grandfathered in which was 90% covered with no CAP (this means no matter the treatment they covered the full cost) They tried to push me out by raising the cost the that plan year after year so I played ball with them and dropped it down to 70% covered with no CAP. They always stress to insure the animal since they were a puppy or kitten so everything can be covered through their life without any exempt. So this year they decided to write me that they are canceling my policy becuase the cost to them are too high to cover his plan even though they havent offered this plan in over 7 years and I was grandfathered in. I was told they will move me to the 70% plan and a 10k cap so if my animals had any thing serious over 10k i had to put the money up. Or other wise I can go kick rocks. Even though I have been paying over 10 years of premiums for 4 animals and they were so selfesh and could wait maybe another 5 years until all the grandfathered customer fur babies passed and crossed the rainbow bridge. Instead this $60.3 billion dollar in sales for 2024 company decided to be selfish and not cover and honor the pet plans they gave customers. Its really sad and disgusting that they used the phrase they are loosing money as an excuse to hurt theese animals. I will say over the past 10 years nationwide has been amazing with quick payouts and customer service. But that dose not fix how they handled this selfish situation.

Stephanie is the best!!!!!

Stephanie called me on her own to be sure I had gotten my payment from when I called in a couple of weeks ago. I still hadn't received my payment on three claims, and she went above and beyond calling me back the following day to walk me through how to set up auto payment in receiving to my checking account. Stephanie is absolutely exceptional and is a very positive asset to Nationwide. You don't get this kind of service anymore. Keep up the fantastic work Stephanie, I really appreciate you.
