Winnie is doing well and I appreciate the assistance that I receive from this insurance.

The only challenge I see is that you cannot always time getting the insurance policy to go into effect based on when you get the pet and sign up for the insurance. Especially with puppies, that means the first few visits (which can be expensive) do not count towards the deductible and then, if there is an illness it is viewed as a pre-existing condition and may not be covered. With Winnie, the example is associated with UTIs, which were multiple the first few months. She has since been fine but is that considered a pre-existing condition going forward.

Truly caring people work at Nationwide Insurance

Nationwide has been wonderful at paying my claims. So far, every one has been accepted and they have paid 90% of what I actually paid. My dog has exclusions for a couple of preexisting conditions, but I knew that before his coverage, and one exclusion has been removed (his teeth were dirty, so his first teeth cleaning fell under the exclusion). When you call there, the staff in genuinely concerned about the welfare of your animal, and does their best to help out when they can. Although it is expensive, I have the top plan for my service dog. So far, I have been able to keep up with the cost of the coverage, and have peace of mind that an emergency vet bill won't bankrupt me.

Nationwide Pet Insurance was the best investment we have made

I really didn't think pet insurance would really be worth it, but the money we pay for insurance has paid off. Just going to the vet for routine yearly immunizations, medication, and a few minor issues that came up basically was reimbursed because of the insurance. We pay around $700.00 a year in insurance, and our reimbursements were around the same. We lost one of our pets around a year ago and I believe if we had insurance we could have possibly saved our baby's life. I now feel more at ease having pet insurance in the event something were to happen to our other pets. Our pets are not just pets to us they are family we love dearly, and I would do anything possible to insure their health
