Rates keep going up and up

Started at a reasonable $25/month for our 7 month old rescue pup. Every year the monthly cost went up $5-10. About 4 years ago we had one claim of about $700. They didn't want to pay because they claimed we didn't have enough of the dog's history/records. The ASPCA was both the vet and the place we adopted from, so they had all the records the dog would ever have. Healthy Paws reluctantly paid the claim, but then raised our rates even more. After 7 years, we were at $75/month. Just got a notice they are raising it to $155/month! For no reason. Putting the money in a savings account rather than paying them any more.

Do NOT choose this insurance.

Substantial increases with no explanation, denying coverage claiming "pre-existing" conditions when that was not the case. When I first obtained insurance for my dog, it was only $45 per month. I got the highest coverage at 90%. Now, it has increased to $170 per month. No explanation of why. No option to respond. Within the "waiting period" of initially getting the insurance, she ended up with an ear infection. Now ANYTHING ear-related is not covered, and unfortunately she gets frequent ear infections. I was happy with the ease of the app for a long time, which I do appreciate because it makes claims easy to file, but the increase in prices is unjustified and now they have been denying claims they should be covering - even after I email back with additional details and explanations. They claimed an infection in her paw from a friend's pool was considered "pre-existing" when it happened two weeks prior. The company was good a few years ago, but I would never recommend it now. They should be reviewed by the Better Business Bureau.

Very fair company; has always treated me well

I decided to go with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance for my first pet based on online reviews and experiences of other customers. I've been using them for nine years at this point, and they've been a good company to work with. We're all skeptical of insurance companies, and worried that at the time we need them most, they're going to find some silly loophole to leave you high and dry. This has NOT been my experience with this company. I've never felt like they've given me the run-around. Even when there have been procedures requiring anesthesia and a covered procedure along with an uncovered procedure, they have covered the full anesthesia and haven't tried to "cheap out" or bicker with me. They've treated me very fairly and have resolved claims very quickly. I would recommend this company to others looking for peace of mind for their furry friend.

There rates start out good when your…

There rates start out good when your dog is young healthy, then watch out it goes crazy high there plan is to get you to reduce your reimburstment and up your deductible. I have put in as few claims maybe most I got from them 5000 or 6000 in 10 years Ive been paying more out of pocket then putting in claims to keep his cost down but just now they raises in back to 279 plus my 1000 deductible I have a 70% reimburstment had to lower it to 50% stay away

Scam --- You guys need to be very careful

You need to be very cautious when signing up with this company. I canceled my policy seven months ago, but unfortunately, they have continued to charge my bank account all this time. I only noticed today. Even though it’s partly my fault for not keeping better track, I called the company back and they told me they have no record of my cancellation. I canceled this policy after paying them for nine years because whenever I needed coverage, they wouldn’t cover anything, despite me having full coverage. Your pet has to undergo surgery for them to cover even basic expenses. This feels like a huge scam, so please do not work with these people. Additionally, I would like to highlight the very poor customer service. Every time I called, it took at least three days to reach someone who could help fix my issue. Unfortunately, I found that I was never able to resolve my problem because the representatives seemed more focused on taking my money. If you encounter an issue, good luck getting it resolved.
