10 years, Multiple Surgeries, and Total Peace of Mind
"We signed our English Springer Spaniel up with Healthy Paws 10 years ago when she was just a puppy, and it is easily the best financial decision we’ve ever made for our family. Over the last decade, Healthy Paws has been a rock-solid partner through every stage of her life.
Recently, our ESS had to undergo surgery for bilateral elbow fractures, which totaled over $8,000. Within just a few days of filing the claim, Healthy Paws had processed it and covered their 60% portion without any hassle.
Beyond this major surgery, they have consistently been there for:
Chronic Care: They cover his daily allergy medications and frequent treatments for chronic ear infections.
Cancer Recovery: Last year, they covered the removal of two cancerous cysts, allowing us to focus on his recovery instead of the cost.
Modern Perks: We also love the added value of the 24/7 virtual vet care via Airvet, which is a huge help for quick questions at any hour.
Most people don’t realize that other companies have annual caps of $5,000 or $10,000. With an aging dog who has faced multiple health hurdles, having no annual or lifetime caps has been the difference between providing him with the best care possible and facing heartbreaking financial decisions. If you are looking for a company that actually stands by you for the long haul, this is it."
I now have my third dog insured with healthy paws - that speaks for itself. They are easy to work with, super fast working on claims and wiring / checks. I recently experienced some communication issues as if the left doesn’t know what the right is doing as well as receiving their email notifications. I hope they fix that. The other downside is their age restriction; if a dog is 8+ years old, they don’t offer the same coverage as for younger dogs. That’s a big minus. Otherwise it would be a 5* rating.
My dog was diagnoised with Splenic stromal sarcoma in Nov 2025. Her spleen, the mass, a a portion of her liver was removed. It was malignant. She been under going Chemo every 2 weeks.
The financial expense was staggering. I am so grateful to have Healthy Paws Pet insurance. Not only have they paid 80% of the medical bills but, it is done in such a easy process. I filled a claim on a Friday and by Monday the funds were in my checking account. The best customer service during this trying time. They also follow up to chek on my dog. I highly recommend Healthy Paws Pet Insurance to everyone who has a pet. Affordable, low deductible and outstanding customer service from a company who cares about you and your pet!
I would like to leave my review about this pet health insurance.
Maya has been insured with this company since she was a puppy, back in 2016, when she was just a few months old. We got the insurance as a precaution. When she was 10 months old, she fractured a bone in her leg. She had surgery, and the insurance reimbursed us 80%.
She remained on this insurance for several years. When I found out that my husband had canceled her policy, I immediately reactivated it on October 15, 2021. Maya was going to turn 6 in December.
Unfortunately, on February 10, 2022, Maya needed another surgery to remove the pin from her leg. As she grew, the pin had shifted into her knee, and she was having difficulty walking. She underwent the second surgery, and I filed a claim — but they did not reimburse me, stating it was a pre-existing condition.
I was very upset, because they were already aware of her full medical history, including the first surgery. However, since the policy had been canceled and then reactivated, I believe they may have assumed we were trying to take advantage of the situation, which was not the case at all.
I eventually let it go, although I remained very disappointed, and we paid for everything out of pocket.
She has remained insured to this day. Recently, she had to undergo yet another surgery on the same leg — her third surgery, in 2026. Maya is now 10 years old. This time, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and had to have her leg amputated. The insurance reimbursed 80% of the costs.
Overall, I would not give this insurance 5 stars. Because of the second surgery, which I believe should have been covered, I cannot rate it that highly. However, considering the customer service and the speed of reimbursement, I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.
I also would not give 5 stars because I consider the monthly premium of $228.69 to be quite expensive.
