Healthy Paws: Disorganized and avoids paying claims

Healthy Paws is disorganized and does not pay claims. I rescued a cat, got an exam the next day, provided all to Healthy Paws which they happily accepted as proof there were no pre-existing conditions, along with my premiums. As it turns out my cat developed asthma which they argued was a pre-existing condition that no one knew about (does that make sense to you?). It took a month for them to develop their case why they won't pay and asked for the same information 3 times. I sent them everything I had and at the end they just assumed it as a pre-existing condition. I cancelled my coverage with them. Don't fall for their nonsense. Do the right thing and save your money!

Love Healthy Paws (7+ years)

I’ve had Healthy Paws for 7 years covering 2 pets and now 2 years with a 3rd (2 Bernese Mountain Dogs and 1 tabby cat). Healthy Paws has been there for all the fun we’ve had with the boys including 2 torn ACLs, 1 incident of bloat that we caught in time, an accidentally swallowed tennis ball, broken toes, muscle strains, and other shenanigans these floofs have gotten into. They’ve been there every step of the way on their recovery. Zero issues, easy to work with them, submit claims and timely coverage.

Great service

I have been incredibly impressed with Healthy Paws service so far, their claims process is easy to follow with fast reimbursement. It’s huge peace of mind and I would highly recommend.

Completely Unreliable

I chose healthy paws because it was one of the highest rated pet insurance programs. About a year into insuring my pets, healthy paws has denied documentation for my cat who has had multiple full exams by the vet. They have stated that these exams are not complete enough to insure that he has no pre-existing conditions. There is no basis for this denial that I can find as he has had blood work, his teeth checked, his ears cleaned and is up to date on his boosters. He has gone to multiple vets over the few years I’ve had him. Now, any claims I’ve filed are being denied because the exams are considered incomplete. The vets didn’t think so. Customer service has been totally unhelpful with this issue. I would highly recommend choosing another pet insurance company like Trupanion that processes claims quickly and has far superior customer service. Not willing to gamble with the health of my pets. Healthy Paws will not be there when you need them.
