Premium Costs Have Increased Significantly

Submitting Claims with Healthy Paws has been easy to do when I need to. I have a concern with how they significantly increase their premiums every year though. We have been using Healthy Paws since 2015 when we adopted our kitty. He was 7 years old then. Every year, the insurance premium slightly increased up until last year when the premium almost doubled in price. We just received a notification for the premium adjustment for 2021, and the cost is almost doubling again. It seems that now that my kitty is in his senior years and had a few more appointments, they are adjusting the price to the point where we possibly should consider moving to another insurance company. I want to let others who are looking at this insurance as this is not covered if any of the insurance ranking web sites. You will find other customers who are posting this same complaint also.. I currently have a $250 deductible with 90% coverage. Below are some numbers for reference. 2015 = $29.35 / month 2016 = $30.77 / month 2017 = $33.45 / month 2018 = $37.61 / month 2019 = $43.98 / month 2020 = $83.02 / month 2021 = $157.40 /month (renews in 2 months) When I called Healthy Paws last year about the significant premium price jump, I was told then this was due to the number of people filing claims in my area so they have to adjust the premium costs. Before I moved to Healthy Paws (based on their good reviews), I had a VPI/Nationwide plan and the premiums never adjusted this significantly. Since I started paying in 2015, I have paid $3040.14 in premium costs. Unless I adjust my coverage for 2021, I will pay $1,888 in premium costs just for 2021. There was a class action suite that was flied about this practice, but the judge dismissed the case it seems in favor of Healthy Paws.

Wonderful Customer Service

I am very satisfied with Healthy Paws. I purchased the insurance policy ($100 deduct, 90% coverage, around $20-25/mo) for a kitten that we had rescued. Shortly after, she had blood in her urine. Her vet treated her for a UTI. She continued to have problems, so a x-ray was performed. She was diagnosed with a large urinary stone requiring surgery. I uploaded her itemized bill via mobile app to Healthy Paws. Very easy process. I was reimbursed (minus $55 vet fee, $100 deduct, and 10% copay) within a week. She was put on a prescription diet (no coverage by insurance). A couple years went by, and she just had another surgery for the same problem. Again, a $1000 surgery was reimbursed and my copay and out of pocket was around $250! Thank you Health Paws!

Great Company!

Great company! They're very fast at processing claims, have good coverage, and are clear in their explanations. And, they actually care, they often follow-up to check in on our pup.

We could not recommend them more!

Healthy Paws has been with us every step of the way through sickness and health! When we file a claim, it is paid within days. I have had the best customer service interactions - and when Morgan isn't feeling her best, they even email to see how she's feeling. They truly do care about your pet. If you are in doubt about insurance - look no further than Healthy Paws!

Save your money, when you need coverage most they aren’t there

My dog Eli was 9 years old and healthy. He developed subcutaneous mast cell tumor of the leg, and we were referred to Cornell for removal, related to location. We have healthy paws as we are getting older and wanted to ensure we could provide care for our dogs. Healthy paws paid for diagnostic care, but rejected payment for removal of the mass and lymph node, after we waited for 30 days. They offered no reason for rejecting the claim, and we are going to appeal. We pay $245 per month for the insurance for Eli and a two year old lab, and found they don’t provide what they promise.?

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet
