Absolutely Recommend for Any Pet Parent!! No Hassle Reimbursement

I love, love, love this company. I usually never write reviews, but this company is so fantastic, I felt guilty for not spreading the word. Unfortunately, my poor Labrador who was almost three at the time, had to have TPLO surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus. One day, she started hopping and within minutes, she could only walk on three legs. It was heartbreaking to see. The whole ordeal was a three month long recovery time which required home physical therapy, lots of meds, and kennel rest. The most reassuring part as the financial concerns and knowing my sweet baby girl would be able to walk again. Healthy Paws processed my claim in a week, mailed a check for 90% of the cost, didn’t ask questions about the vet bills, and even checked in to see how she was doing. I had to put in claims for small issues during the earlier parts of her puppyhood, and had great service for those claims as well. The peace of mind I get from having Healthy Paws is immense and I feel I’d be an irresponsible pet parent for not having it. Do yourself and your fuzzy a huge service and get pet insurance. I had a healthy three year old lab and look what we went through. I would have been struggling to have paid a $2500 vet bill. You never know what could happen.

Insurance Premiums

I've been with Healthy Paws for 8 years, I've been very pleased with the insurance coverage and ease of submitting a claim on my dog. However, the premium monthly went from $48.00 per month to $108.00! I'm wondering if it went sky high because he is 11 years old now and they know I can not get insurance anywhere else due to his age. That is more than triple the cost. Very disappointed in this company after being a loyal customer for so many years.

Happy to take your money; quite unwilling to reciprocate

In our experience, this company operates at a near-scam level of ethical behavior. Happy to take your money, but filled with endless excuses not to pay on claims. They play a long, deep "wear you down game". AVOID AVOID AVOID! You're much better off just saving money every month in a "future vet expenses" account. Do not risk the loss of time and money and complete frustration which comes of dealing with these people.

When it matters...

I have been with Healthy Paws since 2017, and while they aren't perfect (as I'm sure no company is), in the end, the positive definitely outweighs the negative. I'm fortunate to say I'm not one of the customers who encountered crazy premium increases; if so, I'd likely feel different... however, the business of insurance in itself can easily turn messy - things don't go your way and your entire world is turned upside down. For me, I happened to pick the right company at the right time for my cat who was afflicted with gastroentestinal issues chronically starting about 6 months after establishing our relationship with Healthy Paws. Not once did I ever run into a single solitary issue when it came time to get reimbursed for her qualified medical expenses, and we went to the vet ALOT. So often there were times I called apologizing for the volume of claims I was submitting at once, afraid I'd be denied just because I started getting self conscious. Their customer service is unparalleled, notably so when it comes to calling in with questions/concerns, clarification. I was always treated with warmth, kindness, respect. Where they fall short? Communication. At times it was maddening how often they needed the same thing over and over again because of incomplete records or something, something seemingly more prevalent of recent times. Often it was like there was a lack of note taking between customer service reps so information I'd call in with sometimes wouldn't get processed and create confusion. This occurred with my second pet whom I went through the appeals process with and eventually just walked away from in the end (fighting the claim, not my pet). Perhaps Covid-19 times have brought about these instances/experiences of mine. Importantly though, my cat passed last week and Healthy Paws has been more compassionate and comforting towards me than my own veterinarian. That's not an exaggeration. To me that's tremendous. Today I had to call to discuss the final invoice/claim and the woman helping me took the time to share her regret for my loss, look at the photo of Sophie I had for the profile picture, and tell me how beautiful she was. Perhaps I'm being naive, but she didn't have to "make the effort". It's not always about money and it shouldn't be. Thank you for being there for Sophie.

Ease of mind to have assurrance you can do the best care in any medical crisis!

I have a GWP that is a year old and knowing the history of the breed to be known as eating anything in sight I started shopping around for pet insurance. I did a lot of comparison with other insurances and spoke with other GWP owners. Hands down this is the best insurance! Processing of the claims and money back in my pocket 3 - 7 business days. And trust me the premium you pay each month is well worth it!

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
