Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

As a type A pet parent and graduate student, I knew pretty early on that I wanted to get my puppy an insurance plan. I activated the insurance the day that I got her, and here we are, almost a year later, and it has paid for itself. When my puppy started having some chronic GI tract issues, we were confident that we could get whatever tests and medical help she needed because she was insured. A little more than three years ago, when I got my Australian Cattle Dog, I was skeptical of the need for pet insurance. Cattle Dogs are generally healthy in the long term, my thought. I got Mojave to be a trail dog, as I hike approximately 120 miles a month. But in April of this year, Mojave injured a rear paw. It has resulted in Veterinary care to this day. (he is well on the mend now) Thank goodness for my Healthy Paws insurance! His treatments were very costly, and Healthy Paws was there for me. Not only that, filing a claim and getting reimbursed, couldn't be easier. If you have, or are about to get a pup, get insurance! You never know when something will happen, You'll be bummed out if you need it but don't have it. Thank you Healthy Paws!!!

I have had Healthy Paws insurance for both of my dogs for several months. One of my dogs began showing symptoms of gastric illness. I immediately took her to the vet and she began diagnostic testing. I submitted my first claim and it took about 30 days for reimbursement, since it was the first claim and my vet exists in hard copy. Once HP received the records, they paid the claim, minus my deductible and copay, within a few days. After the first claim, HP paid each subsequent claim within a few hours after submittal. They even emailed me 10 days after the last visit to check on my girl. Amazing! Based on the excellent customer service and trust they built, I decided to adopt two more dogs, knowing that the unexpected costs of illness and accidents will be covered after I enroll them. One other note: I compared many different plans before selecting HP. It offered the most benefits for the most competitive price.

I compared at least 20 pet insurance plans and ended up enrolling our girls with HP. Within months of enrollment, one of my girls began experiencing gastric symptoms. I submitted my first claim and although it took 30 days to get the first claim paid, all subsequent claims were paid in a matter of hours. After my most recent submission, HP emailed me to see how she was doing. Amazing customer service! Based on the trust build by HP, I adopted two more girls, knowing that I don’t have to worry about unexpected costs related to illness or accidents.
