Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

I've been a customer of Healthy Paws since 2011. I was REALLY happy with them until the last couple years. The premium for my small mixed breed dog started at about $20/month, and increased by a few dollars each year. Ok, no problem. However, the year he turned 12, the premium nearly tripled, then doubled the year after that. For our pure-bred large breed, the policy was always on the expensive side, but we again saw it double the year she turned 8. The premium for both dogs is now nearly $600/month. I am 100% committed to the idea of pet insurance, but I can't help but feel like Healthy Paws is trying to off-load us as customers now that my dogs are older. I am so disappointed and angry. Now that my dogs have a bunch of pre-existing conditions, our only options are to drop coverage or pay premiums that are on track to double each year. This is completely unacceptable for a company that claims to want to support your family for the life of your pet. They don't mean it.

I purchased health insurance for my pet when I first adopted her. I have made two claims to Healthy Paws in the last 6 months as Rory required two ACL repairs. The first claim was a little more time-consuming as HP wanted all of Rory's records since she was adopted by my family. Once all of this was established the company sent me a check within the week. The second claim was made and again, their check was received within the week. Healthy Paws is an amazing company.

Totally satisfied with the prompt claims review and payments. Very pleased with caring concern for my pets well being also.
