I used Healthy Paws and they doubled my rate…

I used Healthy Paws to cover my two rescued cats for 7 years and was happy with them, even though I knew their rates were higher than other pet insurance plans. Then, in 2021 my insurance suddenly doubled due to past “use.” Yes, that is what Healthy Paws said was the reason. This put me in a bind because one of the kitties had more health issues than the other so I could not get insurance for her under another plan and be assured her medical needs would be covered if linked in some way to her past medical issues that Healthy Paws covered. So now I’m paying $40+ for one cat and almost $76 for the other who remains covered by Healthy Paws. Look elsewhere! Shame on Consumer Affairs for the high rating!

Excellent Pet Insurance

I have had my dog covered by Healthy Paws for 7.5 Years. They have consistently provided excellent customer service and rapid reimbursement. Their policies are straight forward and they have no hidden 'rules' that resulted in a denied claim. I recommend Healthy Paws, especially given the cost of modern and technologically advanced veterinary care.

Thank you so much for your concern for…

Thank you so much for your concern for our little furry family member. You don’t know how much Healthy Paws helped us out. During that stressful time, the last thing we wanted to hear was that we had to pay all those bills 100% at the time of service. Holy moly!!! Of course you do it because it is what needs to be done but later we were thinking “How are we going to pay for this???” Thankfully, Tama is doing fantastic now!! Many thanks!!!

Don't trust their intro rates - they skyrocket later

I have been a customer with Healthy Paws Insurance since 2016. My 6-year-old dog has been very health overall and we've made very few claims. I was prepared for incremental increases in my monthly premium. However, I was shocked at how my Healthy Paws jacked up my rates over the past year. They skyrocketed from from $39.05 a month in May 2020 to $65.69 in June 2021. That's a 68% increase in the span of a year! According to their own website when I bought my insurance, the company stated: "Due to the increasing cost of new technology and advances in veterinary care, your rates will increase slightly each year. Our plan has factored the expected increase in the cost of veterinary care into your rates so that the annual premium increases are manageable." This is neither a "slight" or "manageable" premium hike. When I complained to the company, they pretty much said more people are filing claims in my state than expected and that's just the way it goes. I feel I was deceived by the company's website and that the company made false claims about its rates. I see it recently changed its website language under FAQs and no longer use the words "slight" or "reasonable" to describe their increasing rates. It's no wonder why. If you're looking for pet insurance, look elsewhere. They aren't a good company for your pet long term.
