Extraordinarily nice people in a bad time

Fist off, I never actually was able to file a claim so I have no experience in that area. I am hear because of the wonderful experience I had after the passing of my cat. After a few weeks of taking my cat to the vet, my bills started stacking up and we realized we needed insurance (even if it didn't cover the current issues). I thoroughly reviewed at least 6 different insurance companies. It felt like learning a new language to figure out what was going on. I went with Healthy Paws for numerous reasons (no annual cap, coverage starts 15 days after signing up, relatively cheap, one time annual deductible, etc). They are vastly better than just about every other company, maybe one or two came close, but I went with Healthy Paws because of an article in the Seattle Times (I think?) that reviewed numerous companies and decided they were the best (if narrowly). Anywho, it was unfortunately discovered that my cat had cancer that was very far along in the abdomen. We ended up putting him down about a week later. It was quite the horrible experience, as he was my best friend and not very old. I made myself cancel the insurance before I could forget. I was quite surprised that my first month fee was reimbursed without any hassle. I was expecting to pay it, but later realized they give you 30 days to "try them out". So that's pretty cool. However, the real reason I am here is that about another week later, at the deepest point of my despair, I got a letter from Healthy Paws in th

ER Visits are never fun

I have Healthy Paws coverage for all four of my girls. Though the monthly premiums can get quite costly, I feel like they pay for themselves in the end. I recently had to take one of my girls to the ER for stitches and to get her eye checked out after a spat with another dog. I received an email stating that my claim had been processed within 2 days of it being submitted, and Healthy Paws reimbursed me for exactly what they said they would (90% of the bill after my deductible). The reimbursement check was a huge relief since I had just moved and since the holidays are coming up. This has been a trend since starting a policy with Healthy Paws, my claims are always paid quickly (once all of the proper information is submitted), and they have always covered what their policy says they will cover. I would recommend Healthy Paws to anyone looking for pet insurance.

My Yorkie (Diva) needed a Healthy paw! SMILE

Recently my Yorkie was accidentally hurt playing with another dog. She started to limp after jumping around in the yard. The vet provided xrays and gave us the bad news. Diva tore her ACL and MCL, she also needed a steel rod inserted. She went into surgery to recieve a new Healthy PAW! With the holidays around the corner we my family was already financially tight and a huge vet bill was coming. I dont know what we would have done with out Healthy Paw Insurance. The support was amazing and they checked up on Diva more then the vet. I really am thankful and enjoyed the emails from your amazing staff. Thank you for such a fast turn around and how easy it was to receive the check/claim. Diva is walking again!

This is why we get insurance

I consider insurance to be working the moment I can make healthcare decisions for my dog without worrying about 1. how much it will cost; and 2. how much effort it will take for it to actually cost that much. Any plan (such as VPI's) that has a reimbursement schedule (i.e. fixed limits for each illness/treatment category) gloriously fails (1) in my opinion. On both these counts, Healthy Paws has been working phenomenally well for me. I have a 90% coverage plan with a $250 annual deductible (no preventive care) for my 2 year old chihuahua mix. My monthly premium is a little under $30. The claim process is very simple. Print out a custom claim form (I have several printed out and at hand so I get the vet's office to fill it out after every appointment) and scan along with the invoices and email. Every single time, Healthy Paws has blown me away with how soon they processed the claim (usually under an hour). In my first year, I made several small claims but they did not go over the deductible, so I wasn't reimbursed. Sure, on the whole, I paid more out of pocket than I would have without insurance. But I understood the policy and what was excluded and knew fully well what to expect. Two weeks ago, my dog needed surgery for cherry eye, and, immediately after, needed an emergency vet visit when he had diarrhea and regurgitation and loss of appetite while recovering from his anesthesia. The bills were steep, but, in the midst of everything we went through, I'm gr

First Experience, High Expectations Met

A year or two ago I researched insurance plans on sites like this and ultimately decided to go with Healthy Paws over some others. Yes, it is a tad more expensive than some of the other top rated plans, but I figured it would be worth it if the reviews were accurate. That said, after having to make my first claim this month I can attest that the reviews are correct. The claim process was very quick and easy - and the Healthy Paws staff very helpful and caring. They even check in to see how your pet is doing after treatment - in my case a broken toe on my cat. Suffice it to say, I have no regrets with choosing them as my pet insurer and I now have the peace-of-mind that if something more severe were to ever happen that Healthy Paws would be there for me and my pet.
