Worth every penny and quick & easy to submit a claim on the mobile app!

We purchased Healthy Paws Pet Insurance for our Bernese Mountain Dog, Scarlett, at age 2 after she required a 5 thousand dollar surgery for gobbling up corn on the cob off the patio table around the 4th of July. (There aren't many things worse for your dog to consume than entire ears of corn on the cob!) I researched pet insurance companies and asked dozens of dog-owning friends if they had pet insurance and who they purchased it through. Healthy Paws got rave reviews from everyone I know who had it, so I signed Scarlett up. For the last couple years we have paid our monthly premium and did not need to submit a claim until recently when we noticed a lump in Scarlett's cheek which turned out to be a malignant tumor. She underwent testing to look for metastasis, and when those reports came back clear, we had the tumor (including her upper left maxilla/jaw bone which the cancer had eroded) removed. The first week was a rough recovery, but at day 7 she was energetic and eating normally (just softer foods while she learned to chew on the right side of her mouth). To ensure we eradicate all the cancer, Scarlett's oncologist suggested a few rounds of chemo, which we have just started. Over the past few weeks I have submitted several thousands of dollars worth of bills to Healthy Paws, and they have honored her plan to the letter. We have a $250 deductible and then 90% of her bills (procedures, surgery, meds, etc) have been covered. When I called to inquire about her initial claim which was taking a while to process, the representative was very nice on the phone and explained they had not yet received Scarlett's medical records/history from our PCP/vet. She emailed and faxed our vet for us requesting her records (as I had already called and asked for them to send them on once before) and she also followed up with me via email to let me know what actions she had taken. She included a nice message to Scarlett hoping she recovers quickly. It has been incredibly easy submitting claims through the mobile app. I've paid Scarlett's bills before leaving the vet hospital, snapped a photo on my phone, and then simply sent in the photo of the bill through Healthy Paws phone app. It's quick- it takes less than a minute. An email automatically populates saying they've received the claim, another when it's being processed, and a third when the reimbursement check is sent. We have been incredibly pleased with their customer service, responsiveness, and caring enough to send the periodic email checking in on Scarlett. I understand that pet insurance is one more monthly expense. But when something catastrophic happens to our four legged family members, having insurance like Healthy Paws takes the monetary element out of the equation and allows us as parent to focus strictly on trying to provide the best care for our pet versus "how much is this going to cost me?" and "where am I going to find that kind of money?" I am so glad we purchased this insurance for our berner and I will continue to buy insurance through Healthy Paws for all our future pets. 5 star rating for a 5 star company! I couldn't recommend more.

Above and beyond

I was devastated by the unexpected saddle thrombosis and death of my dear Mau. Healthy Paws claim process quick, and I received the most gracious emails from staff. I do also appreciate the automatic cancellation of his policy as everything I have to do reminded me brings back the hurt. I received a condolence card hand signed by the Healthy Paws staff and taken aback. I work for an insurance company and, believe me, nothing like that would take place. Healthy Paws made a very painful event as painless as possible.

I thought I should pass our personal …

I thought I should pass our personal experience with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. Healthy Paws allows answer their phone and emails. Every claim we have ever submitted was addressed and paid within a months time or less. We have had the occasion to have two larger claims in the last year. the first was our older German Shepherd Odin. Odin was diagnosed with Perianal Fistulas last fall. While researching this condition I discovered that many owners facing the cost of the medication used to treat this have had to put their dogs to sleep. You can only imagine how frightening this is to read. Fortunately we never had have to consider this as an option because of our insurance policy on Odin. Odin is now stable and does not require the medication but I know that Healthy Paws is still there for Him and us if we need them. The second large claim was recently when our 10 month old puppy swallowed 6ft of peircord. She was in the hospital for 3 days. Our bill was just over $3,000 and Healthy Paws reimbursed us just over $2,600. They sent their best wishes both times and asked how our babies were feeling. Healthy Paws Pet Insurance has been there for our family!! I would absolutely recommend them to any Pet owner. I never want to be in the position of choosing a treatment based on my financial situation and Healthy Paws gives us that peace of mind. Thank You and Merry Christmas from The Williamson Family, Odin and Jetta send their puppy kissed

Best pet insurance - fast, easy, transparent

Health paws is as good as it gets. I've used others but they are the fastest, easiest to use, and most transparent. I wouldn't use any other insurance.

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.
