Worth paying the insurance!
Recently our 9 1/2 year old Labradoodle/Goldendoodle (Mac) had a medical emergency. He was literally fine one moment and the next he couldn't raise his head and could barely walk. We were concerned that he had had a stroke. We immediately took him to our vet and they ran numerous tests with nothing coming up negative. However, during the three hours we were there, Mac didn't move. They sent us home and recommended that if he didn't improve we should take him to an animal hospital in our area. We did that and after running an ultrasound on him found that he had a cyst on his spleen which has burst and he was bleeding internally. They further stated that if he didn't have surgery that evening he would probably not make it through the next day. We were shocked as Mac has always been a pretty healthy boy and this occurrence came out of the blue. With that discussion came all the questions of resuscitate/not resuscitate, costs, etc. Needless to say we were in shock. The one comfort we had was that we knew that we had Healthy Paws Pet Insurance to at least help with the cost of surgery. I have to honestly say that we had thought about cancelling it over the years as costs went up but we ultimately kept it because is was "insurance" in case Mac got really sick. While we are still in the followup stages with what happened with Mac, the surgery was successful and we are very grateful to the doctors and the surgical facility who ministered to him and also to Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. They handled all the claims quickly and easily and paid on the plan we had without a problem! I can't imagine having not being able to provide the necessary surgery for Mac to survive. My husband and I strongly recommend Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. Your pet will thank you!
