Pre-existing Condition Exclusion

One phase: pre-existing condition exclusion. Makes this worthiness for pets that are adopted. Edit - Not really sure what transparency has to do with excluding pets with pre-existing conditions. Considering that this was an equally horrible thing for human health insurance that was changed maybe pet insurance companies should follow this lead instead.

Reassurance to know that pet medical costs were promptly reviewed and check was sent out!❤️

My Havanese 8 month old puppy became ill and had to go through a series of blood work over a weeks time. This was extremely costly and upsetting as his illness was unexpected. Healthy Paws promptly reviewed each claim, which I immediately uploaded upon paying to the hospital, sent clear explanations of application to the the deductible and quickly sent a check when my deductible was met. I felt lucky that I had the foresight to enroll him when I first got him.

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
