Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

We have had nothing but very positive experiences with Healthy Paws. Unfortunately, our dog is plagued with severe allergy problems and has required frequent and costly treatment over the past 3 years. Healthy Paws has approved every claim we've submitted for medications and surgeries related to her allergy problems. We did quite a bit of research before selecting an insurance provider and we are so glad we chose Healthy Paws. We have heard horror stories from friends who have insured their pets with other agencies about the difficulties they have had getting claims approved, this has never been the case for us with Healthy Paws. If you're looking to insure your pet, you won't find better care and coverage than that provided by Healthy Paws.

We enrolled Ramey, our 11 year old chow chow, with Healthy Paws in 2014. We had never had pet insurance before and weren't sure what to expect or how it would work out. We viewed this as helping to defray costs from a major surgery or other major medical event rather than to cover more minor issues. Several months ago Ramey was diagnosed with a large tumor on his liver. We are lucky to have excellent vets in our area and we took him to Angel Memorial, one of the best animal hospitals in the nation. He had a CT scan and surgery. I am happy to say that they were able to get all the tumor, and his prognosis is excellent. Furthermore, he has regained much of his energy and seems to be back to his old ways. Healthy Paws was terrific at every stage, guiding us through the claims process and explaining what documentation is required from his doctors. The bill was nearly $8k and Heallty Paws covered 90% after the $250. deductible. Needless to say we are very grateful. I highly recommend all pet owners interested in pet insurance to check out Healthy Paws.

After all, you never know how good your insurance company is until you have a claim! A couple years ago, I decided to get pet insurance for my year-old kittens. I could find no clear comparison between companies—it was worse than car insurance. I opted to go with Healthy Paws based on a friend’s personal experience. Later that year, one of my girls was diagnosed with renal disease—quite rare in a female year-old cat! She now sees a specialist every few months to monitor progression of her disease, and Healthy Paws has been there every step of the way. I can’t imagine how I would handle these life-long expenses without Healthy Paws. And when—not if—she requires surgical intervention for blocked ureters or a blocked urethra, I know I’ll be able to handle the cost because of Healthy Paws. I recently adopted my former foster kittens, and they each got a free month of insurance with another company. However, this other insurer has yearly and annual caps on payouts. I canceled their coverage and returned to Heathy Paws. It was wise, as one had a major emergency last month and ended up in the pet ER. His visit and follow up care would have exceeded the yearly cap of the other insurance. However, with Healthy Paws, I knew I didn’t have to worry. Should another emergency crop up, he’d still have their protection. This is why I continue to use Healthy Paws. They protect me so I can protect my pets.
