a Literal lifesaver.

This insurance has been an absolute lifesaver for me and my dog Wicklow. It allows us to get the treatment he needs without having to worry about the cost as much as I would without them. And as a result he gets the care he needs. Which means the world to me.They have been kind conscientious and prompt with reimbursement. If only insurance companies treated people like this. The world would be a better place. Thank you healthy paws.

Beware of steep price hikes

I went with Healthy Paws years ago at least in part after reading reviews on Per Insurance Review. Unfortunately I've found myself progressively more dissatisfied overtime. Before I signed up they indicated to me that their annual price increases would be "manageable" and "easy to budget." Generally I would have agreed with that but this year alone received an increase of over 75% from the year prior - forcing me to decrease my coverage in order to fit our budget and am now up to 300-400% of my original rate. I'm honestly a bit worried how their increases will go from here on out. Response time has also gotten worse. In the past I received relatively quick responses to my inquiries but now I regularly have to resend my requests after weeks of no responses.

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
