Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

Our Siberian cat, Blue, a member of our family that we can’t imagine life without, ate a lily. Lilies are very poisonous to cats. Our vet sent us right to our MedVet. He is a lucky boy to be alive. He spent three days on an IV and medication. Without Healthy Paws we would of had to beg, steal and borrow to keep our boy alive. Within a week of submitting our claim we were reimbursed. I have had healthy paws pet insurance for my 2 cats since 2014 and have probably saved at least $4000 dollars on their care in that time, possibly more. I have had some very serious things happen with both kitties that cost a lot of money and knowing that healthy paws would reimburse the majority of the cost for those things was a HUGE comfort and made it possible for me to even provide the care for my babies that otherwise I could not have. Pet health insurance is definitely worth it and healthy paws is the best one around. They even wrote me personally to check in and see how my cat teddy was doing after his recent dental where he had to have some pretty serious work done. That's quality and the kind of company I want to work with.

We have not had a claim at all that has been paid in the last few years. When we first signed up we were told that the rates could be expected to increase 5 to 10% per year which I thought was fair. However, in the past two years even with no claims a rate has doubled to $100 a month. Got this insurance for my puppy when she was very young. She’s only seven years old so what do they expect me to pay when she is older 200, 300, no, I think that I will just start her a savings account right now with the money that I would be paying them. I was hoping to keep it for her entire life as goldens tend to have a lot of congenital issues and I’ve had three of them that I’ve had cancer. But if the rates they are charging, I will be paying more out-of-pocket for Insurance than if I paid out-of-pocket for medical care

We were glad that our policy covered our dog’s cataract surgery. Our pet is doing great. He is 10 years old but acts like 2. Submitting a claim is so very easy and convenient. We are so very happy we chose Healthy Paws. We never had pet insurance before for any of our other pets. This was a good choice for us.

I wrote a review yesterday but I never mentioned what insurance company I started with. After rescuing a puppy I immediately got insurance and picked Nationwide. I never looked into any other companies I just thought it was a company that everyone knows and they would be the best . I remembered the saying " Nationwide is on your side" so how could I go wrong. They were a known name so I felt comfortable with this company. At 7 months my puppy needed hip surgery which was so devastating to us at any age but especially a 7 month old puppy. Needless to say Nationwide made everything harder. They wouldn't cover anything until I was with the company for a year and they were very difficult with everything. They kept needing mire stuff from the vet and myself only to deny something that should have been covered if you're with the right insurance company. When I spoke with them after I paid for 2 surgeries myself I wanted to switch to the top policy Nationwide had to offer. However they would not allow me to because my dog had surgery at 7 months so basically they wouldn't let me pay for the top policy. I felt like I was being punished for my puppy needing surgery. I was so heart broken going through this with my puppy and so frustrated with this insurance company. I called Healthy Paws and they were so wonderful and caring. They made this process of getting insurance easy and paid for the next 2 surgeries after receiving the claims with no questions asked. I just wish I would have gone with Healthy paws from the beginning. Not only do they pay you fast after receiving your claim but they ckeck up on your animal afterwards to see how she's doing. Needless to say Nationwide is not on your side but Healthy Paws is for sure!! I hope I never need to submit another claim but if I do I know Healthy Paws will be there for us. Best company ever!
