Claim

Once paperwork sent, they quietly got on with it. Could have been quicker but I can’t fault them. Recommended.

Great Service

My experience today was great with Fetch, as always. They have been taking care of my fur babies for 7 years approximately. Ananda and Kelsey provided extremely efficient, friendly, knowledgeable and patient service, as I had many questions and changes to make. Highly recommend this company and thanks lafies for all your help today. It was fabulous talking with you. Great job 👏

Extremely expensive!

The dog's insurance premium is over twice the SUV I drive! Started with $50/month 4 years ago. Now it is #130/month. EVERY YEAR THE PREMIUM WENT UP 30-60% MORE THAN LAST TIME. Compared to previous years: - after the 1st year it went up 24.27% - after the 2nd year it went up 43.46% - after the 3rd year it went down 5.07% - after the 4rd year it went up 55.00% It is impossible to get a claim done in one shot and it takes 1-2 month of back and forth with them requesting documents over documents. There is no option to upgrade the policy, only to downgrade or change the deductible. If you need to upgrade you pay a totally different premium and you are not covered for some procedures unless the policy was with them since the dog was a puppy! Very inflexible!

Avoid

Hi everyone, I took out my first ever pet insurance coverage plan in January this year for my (then) 2-year-old GoldenDoodle. He's up to date on everything, clean bill of health etc. So, he starts itching a lot about 6 weeks ago. I take him to his new vet. She suspects he has seasonal allergies and says "Let's try him on meds until November. When allergy season rolls around again next year, if he starts scratching again, we'll know it's likely allergies..." Ok, fine. I buy the meds. I go to make a claim on Fetch. First ever claim. They send me an email today denying the claim on the premise of 'Pre-Existing Condition." Excuse me? No. When I call to ask "What the heck...?!" I'm told that "Well, the vet you saw a year ago wrote a note saying he scratched himself 3 times during his wellness check and that she thinks it might be allergies....." I reply that the vet back then asked me if he was itching a lot and I answered "No. No more than what would be considered normal dog behaviour." And that she had said "Well, if you ever want to, there are allergy tests you can do down the track etc." That's it. The receipt from that visit outlines his vaccines, visit fee, heartworm/tick/flea preventatives and off we go. No issues since. It was only 6 weeks ago that he itched a lot and I got him checked out. What gets me is insurance companies can play these little loopholes where something just needs to be discussed during a visit, in this case he scratched himself, and in insurance companies eyes, they can use it to get out of paying a claim later down the track by claiming it as a 'pre-existing condition'. Nothing officially diagnosed. You only need to have your dog do something or have a symptom that could potentially point to a condition and it becomes classified under 'pre-existing'. So, does this mean that, because he scratched himself a year ago and a vet saw it, he is now excluded for other conditions itchiness may point to? Because it's potentially a symptom of x number of conditions? Flipped the other way, if I were to submit a claim for....oh I dunno, treatment for blindness for my dog because my vet saw him bump into another dog and made a note "He kept bumping into other dogs, symptom of failing eyesight?" Shouldn't I be able to make a claim for treatment for failing eyesight? Because I guarantee the insurance would deny that claim based on the fact that he has never been officially diagnosed with failing eyesight. Even though the vet made a note concerned about his vision. But.....they can claim he has a pre-existing condition based on a potential symptom a vet observed a year ago. Funny how everything is in their favour. Anyway, long rant. Avoid Fetch. They'll play all the regular dirty insurance tricks to not pay claims.
