Overall great service - but be a good consumer too
I have 3 dogs insured with Embrace. My biggest suggestion is add your dog to your policy as soon as you get the animal! One dog has lots of pre-existing conditions because I didn't know early enough to get insurance. Check the 2 types they offer - Accident/Illness vs Wellness. Be sure to check your coverage, or put in the paperwork for pre-certification to be sure certain things are covered. Dental work is NOT under accident/illness. And the final approval will be based on the final diagnosis, so if you have work done based on an initial diagnosis (that is covered) and then the outcome shows a different problem (that isn't covered), you are stuck with the bill.
But Embrace is one of the few companies who covers congenital defects like hip dysplasia. We are in the middle of extensive PT and rehab following FHO surgery to alleviate arthritis pain caused by dysplasia, and everything has been covered. When the surgery had complications due to an unknown bleeding disorder, everything was covered even though it exceeded the pre-approved quote.
While we do have to pay bills up front, then apply for re-embursement, the claims procedure is usually very quick. Using direct deposit, I typically have money back within 2 weeks (as long as the vet does their part to provide paperwork).
The 10-15% rate increase every year is getting a little harder to swallow though!
