Easy hassle-free claim process

The app claim submission is super easy. Every time emailed a question I got a response within a day, usually same day. Satisfied with the coverage and pay out was what I expected per policy.

Predatory practices (>100% sudden rate hikes); Misleading stats ("95% of claims approved" can mean $1 of $5000 paid out)

I ensured two older dogs in 2017 at a rate of $65/mo for both dogs. It then annually went up to $78, $105, and then $280/mo by 2020. So they more than QUADRUPLED the cost in just 3 years. They sent an apology email when they did the >100% rate hike in 2020 but an apology does nothing. They get you in the door, get you invested when the dogs do not have a bunch of preexisting conditions, take your money for several years, and then hold you hostage at exorbitant ransom until you eventually need to then go off insurance forever and forfeit your investment to them. Also, they cook their books. Every single claim gets "approved," and then you open the "approved" explaination of benefits to find that they approved like $40 of a $3900 bill. One of my dogs received surgery to remove a suspected malignant tumor, but since it came out benign they rejected all expenses (well, they approved a fraction, of course). They explained that if it were malignant they'd have paid it, but since it was benign they declared that the whole thing must be "dental". So despite that the charges were all towards a covered diagnosis of suspected malignancy (a CT scan, resection of a mass by an oncologist, a biopsy... all conducted in a facility that does not even employ a dental surgeon or anything general practice), since it was benign I'm 100% on the hook. They claim they do not interfere with medical advice and they claim they give you peace of mind when making decisions but when you are half crossing your fingers for a malignant tumor so that your diagnostic tests will be covered that is bad.

So far, so good

We’ve never had pet insurance until we got our Danes last year. So far, I’m happy with our experience. My first claim took a while to be process, and it took me a long time to get through on the phone, but my second claim was process within a week and deposited within 2 days.

Thankful I have pet insurance

My 10 year old, Husky/Great Pyrenees has needed care at a specialty clinic three times. It is not cheap but has been well worth it and given us more years with our much loved girl. Embrace has paid our claims promptly and given us the peace of mind to follow the best course of treatment.

Embrace Insurance claims are easy

I have had Embrace Insurance for my Pomeranian since he was 10 weeks old. He is now 9 years old. The claims are easy to complete and reimbursement is quick. Granted premiums increase as your pet ages, but that is expected since more illness occur with age. That being said, it is nice to be able to get all or most of the vet costs reimbursed. I have been very happy with the customer service and the monthly newsletters I get from them on how to keep my pet healthy.

Monthly Cost

$13 – $100, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 10%, 20% or 30% after your deductible, depending on your chosen plan. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $2000, $5000, $10,000 or $15,000.

Deductible

Annual deductible options from $100 – $1,000.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 6 weeks old to enroll. New pets over 14 are eligible for accident-only coverage. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

There is a two-week illness waiting period, which begins on your policies’ effective date. Orthopedic conditions have additional Waiting or exclusion periods that vary by state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered if they have not been diagnosed or suspected before the policy becomes active. Main plan covers alternative treatments such as chiropractic, acupuncture and homeopathic when provided by a licensed veterinarian. Optional wellness and prescription drug plans are available for an additional cost.
Embrace Pet Insurance protects over 100,000 pets across the U.S. with nose-to-tail accident and illness protection. In addition to its pet insurance policy, Embrace offers a Wellness Rewards program to help cover the cost of routine veterinary care, grooming and training. Its Healthy Pet Deductible™, the industry’s first and only diminishing deductible feature, is included with every policy as standard. For every policy sold, Embrace donates $2 to a pet-related charity, as well as offering additional funding and support to shelters and other charitable organizations.
