Embrace | Pet Insurance Review

I've had Embrace pet insurance for many years and have been happy with their service.

My main issue with Embrace is the fact that they increase policy premiums anywhere from 20-35% almost every year. Why every year? Because each year your dog ages, they can (and do) increase the premiums. they will claim the reason is because older pets, like people, tend to get sick more and cost more money for care. however, my premium doesn't go up each year. so i find their reasons a ridiculous logical circle. I also don't remember reading anything about that before i signed up with them. i know premiums can and will go up but 20-35% annually because my dog gets older each year is ridiculous. that means it may start low when you first sign up but if you have them for 5 years you can expect at least a 100% increase in your premiums. that's insane! and robbery in my opinion. i had them for one year and am looking to switch before my plan renews next month. don't like the hidden fact about the annual age increase. although i will give them credit for answering my questions about it pretty honest and directly once i learned about it. i have two dogs and a cat insured by them.

I did a lot of research on pet insurance before deciding on Embrace. I recommend it to everyone! You couldn't find better and more cheerful customer service. They provide lots of different options for coverage. You can create your own plan. I have 3 cats and each has a different plan. Our older cat, for example, has no diseases or any signs of poor health. But adopting a kitten from a rescue shelter, you just never know, so I got more insurance for him.

This insurance is horrible. Do not buy this. They denied my claim for an isolated incident for my dogs ear infection due to him getting water in his ears. The are trying to say that the ear infection is pre-existing because my dog has dermatology issues. The ear infection had nothing to do with my dogs dander issue!!!! So disappointed after paying all this money for the past few years!! Customer service was horrible! Do not get this insurance!

I was reluctant to get pet insurance but realized my dog is only getting older and will not put a price on my dog’s life. I had little money for premiums so I setup what I would call a ‘catastrophic’ policy- with a $1,000 deductible and 20% copay. And hoped I wouldn’t have insurance hassles. A year later my 14 yr old dog started limping and progressively not walking. It was difficult to go through the progressive diagnostics to get to the proper diagnosis and that was well over a month. Just when a diagnosis and recommended treatment are finally achieved a pandemic hits. There are few AAHA Hospitals with the expertise and technology available for an MRI and hemilaminectomy to begin with. And now many were closed due to COVID-19. It was a struggle to find one, find one open and as we all know you can’t immediately get Veterinary care. Ultimately I drove to another state. Despite all this Embrace proved they weren’t a hassle or haggle. And that was a lifeline during a very difficult time. My claims greatly exceeded my premiums and when it was time for renewal I thought they would drop me. That didn’t happen.
