The web site is very user friendly

The web site is very user friendly - unlike so many others! Submitting a claim was so easy. I really appreciate that!

Being honest

Being honest, I thought the insurance would have covered more. We struggled with our dog as he as a very bad reaction to vaccine shots. We paid the bill upfront and were hopeful we would get it returned for what we pay for insurance. I guess we were lucky he was not in hospital for more than 8 hours.

Everything is pre existing

Cancelled the policy after one claim filed. We got the policy for our 9 month old pup. Lucky we had to file a claim in second month and found out that they will claim everything as "pre existing" Example: our pup sneezed in May, normal for dogs. In July he had allergies and we went to the vet for his cold and sneezing. We filed a claim, embrace tells us sneezing is pre existing and will not be covered until the dog is sneezing free for 12 months. in essence I will pay you 12 months or more for nothing. Sneezing is a symptom not a condition. Dogs can sneeze for multiple reasons. Later they sent me a longggg list that in essence says everything is "pre existing" Cancelled them on the spot. Save your money don't fall for their scam.

Approved claim, confusing communications

The claim was ultimately approved, and there were multiple communications throughout the process, which I appreciate. But some of the communications left us confused about our coverage and how filing a claim could affect future coverage.

Claims take wayyy too long

Claims take wayyy too long, hold times wayyy too long, should have paid a little extra and stuck with trupanion. You get what you pay for....

Monthly Cost

$13 – $100, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 10%, 20% or 30% after your deductible, depending on your chosen plan. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $2000, $5000, $10,000 or $15,000.

Deductible

Annual deductible options from $100 – $1,000.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 6 weeks old to enroll. New pets over 14 are eligible for accident-only coverage. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

There is a two-week illness waiting period, which begins on your policies’ effective date. Orthopedic conditions have additional Waiting or exclusion periods that vary by state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered if they have not been diagnosed or suspected before the policy becomes active. Main plan covers alternative treatments such as chiropractic, acupuncture and homeopathic when provided by a licensed veterinarian. Optional wellness and prescription drug plans are available for an additional cost.
Embrace Pet Insurance protects over 100,000 pets across the U.S. with nose-to-tail accident and illness protection. In addition to its pet insurance policy, Embrace offers a Wellness Rewards program to help cover the cost of routine veterinary care, grooming and training. Its Healthy Pet Deductible™, the industry’s first and only diminishing deductible feature, is included with every policy as standard. For every policy sold, Embrace donates $2 to a pet-related charity, as well as offering additional funding and support to shelters and other charitable organizations.
