How to Save Money at Banwell Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Albert is exceptional, truly a gem who goes above and beyond. All of my dogs & puppies are cared for by this team and I honestly can't say enough to give them the credit they deserve. I tell all my parents, you have to be on the same page as your vet, trust them and be able to talk with them. It's so important and I'm grateful for all the team does. The tail brigade will be seeing you this week!

I can't say enough about Dr. Albert and his staff for the exceptional care that they provide for my dog. From the very first visit, Dr. Albert made an impression that will always stay with me—he didn’t just examine my dog from a distance, he got right down on the floor with him, instantly putting my nervous pet at ease. That level of connection and care is what sets Dr. Albert apart. He is a truly exceptional vet who goes above and beyond for his patients. I’ve never experienced this level of dedication from a veterinarian before. There have been times when my dog (my son) needed urgent care, and even though the clinic was technically closed, he still made the effort to help us. Whether it was responding to emergency calls or coming in on his day off, he’s always been there when we needed him most. Joey suffers from liver disease and other health issues and I worry about him every minute of every day. I’m that patient that may worry a little too much, but he’s always so patient with me. Knowing that Dr. Albert is there for us, no matter what, gives me so much peace of mind. It’s clear that this isn’t just a job for him—he truly cares about making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. Thank you for all that you do for my Joey. Words really can’t fully describe the appreciation we have for you.

I arrived at Banwell Animal hospital around 5:45 PM (they close at 6) with the intention of leaving with my dachshund Dash for the night. However, once I witnessed the condition of Dash it was clear that wasn’t going to happen. The staff were so compassionate and courteous that they agreed to wait for my son to meet me at the clinic much later than normal operating hours to allow my son a moment with our dog. This is something that will stay with me and my son for the rest of our lives and it was only possible because of the staff at this clinic. I’ll forever be grateful for that and I feel like my son (17) had the closure needed to grieve properly and there’s literally nothing worth more than that. A huge thank you from the both of us. Furthermore throughout the 3/4 day process and interaction Dr Albert was great along with his staff of nurses. He explained the options clearly and with a gentle approach.

Dr.Albert is more than exceptional. He puts in extra time, explains things thoroughly and truly cares about his patients and family (us humans!) and the best outcome for the situation. He saved our 3 month old puppy Baxter; from what would have been a fatal situation. He treated him with so much care and helped us through a very tough 2 weeks. We have a puppy on a healthy road to recovery. I can’t say enough about the knowledge this man has. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Dr.Albert!
