Dr. Tahir and his team were very knowledgeable and gentle with our little bird, Iroh. They even provided follow up by email and were able to answer questions I had after the appointment. I am so grateful they were able to fit us in as soon as I had concerns about my birds respiration. Thank you again. I am so glad to have such a great avian vet around.

this is a review. I never thought I would do but very much deserved. I had to put my dog down a couple weeks ago. She was like a member of the family. My son and I went in together with her and they confirmed what we knew we had to do. They didn’t waste our time and money was a bunch of test that necessary although they did offer the option let us know we could extend her life by a few weeks, but it would not be quality. They told us take your time and make a decision and they would they would do whatever we decided. They shut the door to the room so we could have privacy and for us to take as long as we need. No pressure. When we open the door, they came in and we told them we were proceeding with Euthanizing. They told us the process, never brought up money Until we brought it up and told us to take as much time as we needed. When we told them We were ready they took her into the back room to give her the IV. Our dog came back completely calm so we know that she was treated with kindness. They then told us we can have as much time as we needed. We spent at least 25 minutes with her in the room and not once did they come to pressure us. When we told then we were ready again they came back in the room and they allowed us to hold her while she took her last breath. You could tell they had so much compassion for us and Sasha. I think the vet assistant was close to tears as well. They allowed us to spend time with her after it was done to say our good byes. The whole thing only cost us $712 but they included the cremation on her own so we coukd get her ashes if not for that it would have been maybe $500 maybe less. We just received a hand written card in the mail signed by the whole staff which was above and beyond. They gave us a beautiful Urn with her name on it and 2 vile with her hair in it. I will never go to another vet again besides them. They have genuine compassion and not money driven. Thank you for making one of the hardest days as easy as possible.

I was honestly so nervous about coming to this vet given the mixed reviews, and lack of bird owners also reviewing. I took my budgie in today for a check in appointment since he wasn’t doing too well. Upon arrival, the staff were very kind, aswell as the other folks in the waiting area. I waited for a while before seeing the vet. The vet did try to grab him, but I showed her how to get him to step up, and actually hold him, which she did seem to struggle with. My only issue was with him being wrapped in a towel for his heart and weigh in, when they looked at his stomach and underside I understood, but he definitely would’ve stepped on the scale and been good with the stethoscope without. Other than that, this vet was amazing, I will 100% return for any future concerns with him or my other bird. Also, they did not try to push any unnecessary tests, or products, not sure what reviews are talking about there, but it wasn’t at all a money grab like they suggest.

Such compassionate people who always take the best care of our dog. Such an amazing team. Very affordable services, especially for emergencies. The last thing you should worry about is how much you can afford when it comes to treating your animal family members... Waterloo West understands this and makes it affordable. Please, don't ever hesitate to come here for an emergency, especially due to costs. Like others have stated, no one pushed for any extra tests or unnecessary treatments. The vet was super informative and also let us make any well informed decisions we needed to. They really are the best in so many ways! Thank you so much for always taking care of our Boonies.

I hate to write a poor review, but I was extremely disappointed with my visit a year ago, and I wouldn’t recommend this animal hospital. It’s taken me a while to relive this visit and write this review, as my bunny passed away shortly after. It started from the beginning of my visit. I wasn’t greeted or acknowledged by reception. The person who came into the room to ask the initial questions didn’t look at me at all, it felt very cold and clinical. I wish the vet and his assistant had been more gentle. My bunny was sick and scared. They handled her aggressively, pinning her down to the table and causing her to panic more. It was actually quite hard and distressing to watch how they were handled her the entire appointment. The only positive moment of this whole experience was a very kind woman who came in and offered me Kleenex. She wasn’t even involved in my appointment, but she stopped when she saw me, and I still appreciate her kindness. At the end, I didn’t use up the entire deposit amount so I was supposed to be refunded. The receptionist ended up charging more instead of refunding me, and I only caught it when I got home and checked my bank account. I had to call in to get that fixed. All in all, it was a very negative experience, which was disappointing because I had researched and read reviews before choosing to come here. Bunny owners, be careful.
