How to Save Money at Doncaster Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We came to this clinic with our senior cat Chloe after a less-than-awesome experience with a mobile vet in York Region. We are consistently impressed with the care, gentleness, honesty, openness, and professionalism of the staff at DAC, especially Dr. Day. At age 17, we’ve never seen Chloe warm up to any stranger as quickly as she has with Dr. Day. This clinic delivers first-rate care - thank you DAC 🙏

I couldn’t be happier with our decision to switch to Doncaster Animal Clinic! After feeling unsatisfied with the care we were receiving elsewhere, we made the change—and even though it’s a two-hour drive for us, it’s worth every mile. From our very first visit, we knew we were in excellent hands. Dr. Day and her team are incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly dedicated to their work. What stands out the most is how down-to-earth Dr. Day is. She treats both her clients and their pets with genuine care and kindness, making the experience feel personal rather than transactional. This is not just a vet—it’s a place where you and your furry family members are truly cared for. My only regret? Not making the switch sooner! If you’re looking for a vet who really goes above and beyond, look no further. Thank you, Danielle and team, for everything you do!

A friend recommended this clinic when we first got our puppy 3 years ago. We’ve been very happy with the service received. I’ve seen the staff take great care of my dog as well as others. I really appreciate after each appointment, they check in to see how my dog is. They’re available by phone and email but I really like the convenience that someone responds by text too.

Exceptional Care and Outstanding Service! I can't speak highly enough of Doncaster Animal Clinic. After a series of unfortunate experiences with another vet, Doncaster was a breath of fresh air. Their responsiveness truly sets them apart. Unlike my previous clinic, they answer their phones promptly and don't leave you waiting for days for an appointment. Dr. Day is a fantastic vet who truly cares for her patients. She took the time to thoroughly examine my cat and explain everything clearly, providing invaluable peace of mind about my pet's health. But it's not just their medical expertise that stands out - the clinic's customer service is also top-notch. The staff are friendly and incredibly helpful, always ready to assist with any concerns or questions. What really touched me about Doncaster Animal Clinic was their follow-up. They made me feel like part of a community, rather than just another customer. Their caring approach has taken the stress out of vet visits and given me absolute confidence in the care my pets are receiving. For anyone looking for an excellent, caring, and responsive vet clinic, I highly recommend Doncaster Animal Clinic. They've earned these five stars many times over!"

I cannot say enough good things about the doctors and staff at Doncaster Animal Clinic. I have been bringing my family pets here for the past 6 years. Both my family dogs are particularly nervous in the clinic and the doctors and staff are SO accommodating, patient and compassionate. They go above and beyond to make sure the visits are as smooth and stress free as possible. I recently adopted my own dog (Todd) - he is a 1.5 year old Pomeranian/Eskimo dog. Todd recently started vomiting intermittently and after X-rays, ultrasound and testing all done in clinic when they already had a fully booked day, my poor little guy ended up needing surgery. The staff stayed late to do the surgery and make sure my pup is ok. They also were so supportive and compassionate with me as I was an emotional wreck. Todd is doing great now and I cannot thank the entire Doncaster team for taking such good care of him. On top of this, Todd was in clinic throughout August, September and October for an ear infection that was taking a while to get better and received amazing care and support from all staff during these visits too. I live almost an hour away but have so much trust in the Doncaster team and will continue to make the drive knowing my babies are in the best hands ❤️
