How to Save Money at Millennium City Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had the immense pleasure of having my little Quaker parrot treated by Dr Tamara🥹 How fortunate I was. She was so friendly, open, considerate, and knew exactly what she was doing. The staff here are real gems and the bill didn't break my bank. I'd definitely come back here! Thank you for your services 🙏

First time at this vet when we needed a check up for our budgie sylas. Thankfully they had space for us to come check our bird over when we were worried about tail bobbing. The staff was very skilled at handling a bird that is not often held or handled and kept her fairly comfortable and low stress. I got a lot of advice on other items I was worried about and didn't feel rushed. Location is very easy to access and free parking is available. I look forward to using millennium city for our exotic pet care needs. The cost for a bird was not unreasonable. I believe around 115.00 for a budgie. Very cute little building with a comfortable setting inside. My daughter enjoyed the bird themed room when were set up in. Sylas is doing well!

I had to update my review because I wanted to add a few more things about how much I LOVE this vet. MCVH is HANDS DOWN the BEST exotics vet around. I’ve been taking my bunnies there for years, and also my past pets. I recommend them to anyone I know who needs recommendations for a good vet. If you want a good, understanding, caring, professional, empathetic, supportive, loving and reasonable vet, this is place. Dr Tamara and Dr Sugi are WONDERFUL. Everyone, from the amazing receptionists like Jade and Cheryl, to the doctors, techs, assistants are all amazing. My current rabbits see them every 8-12 months for their wellness checks, and my boy goes every month for his nail trims and weight check. My boy was also neutered here by Dr Tamara, who supported me and provided me with all the clarification I needed to feel comfortable as he went in for his surgery. I adopted my girl in May, and she goes here as well. She was seen by Dr Sugi where she allowed her to roam around the room. They are also EXCELLENT with understanding my rabbit’s behaviours. They aren’t fond (as I’m sure no pet is), of getting their temperature tested through their butt. They will not do and tell me WHY. They say, everything looks great, there’s no reason to stress them out for their temperature. To add, my boy is very sensitive and has gotten GI stasis a few times now. EVERY time, they have been so flexible. They have let me drop him off so he can be seen, even when they don’t have any appointment times left. They truly care so deeply about your pets well being, and can tell they are all in it for the right reasons; loving and helping our babies! I am always worried and asked if I could have extra medication to have on hand for emergencies, and they had no problem providing me with it, BUT they also explained WHEN to and WHEN NOT to use the meds, along with the pros and cons. Even when I just bring them in for nail trims, they always greet my babies by saying “Hi baby, welcome back”, or “hi Denver, let’s go honey”. Not to mention, for being the best exotics vet in the area, their prices are very reasonable. They NEVER push you to do certain tests, they ALWAYS give you the option, and they truly understand about individuals struggling with finances or whatever the case may be, and are flexible around that. I will ALWAYS bring my pets here, truly not enough good can be said about this clinic. We have not had good experiences at King Hopkins (which is their sister vet), but they are the complete opposite. This is the only vet I truly feel comfortable with and who are all so loving and caring and take the time to listen and understand you. They always call to update on your pet as well. BEST VET EVER! We love our friends at Millennium and thank you for always taking such good care of Denver & Oakleigh. 🫶🏼🐰

This is by far the absolute best veterinary clinic I’ve been to. I’ve brought a few Guinea pigs here & all the staff are so kind & compassionate. They go above & beyond to help and their prices are very reasonable. I’ve recommended this clinic to my friends & they’ve had the same experience. I drive for an hour to get there even though there’s a vet clinic 5 minutes from my house. I’ll never go anywhere else.

I was so pleased to have found such a kind and gentle vet for my bunny. It was very apparent Dr. Tamara loved bunnies, because my rambunctious boy felt at ease pretty quickly, which relieved my anxiety too! She was also very knowledgeable and patient. The clinic was also tidy and the receptionists polite, and I was able to get my bunny in to be seen the very next day. In the area where I live there are is only one vet who will see rabbits, but will not do dental procedures, so having a vet who can take care of all aspects of my bunnies health is also very important to me. I am so happy to have found this veterinary hospital, and will bring both my bunnies there when needed now.
