How to Save Money at Forestbrook Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Raj and his team are hands down some of the nicest people I’ve met. The amount of professionalism and compassion this team has is unmatched and I am so thankful I found them after years of failed vet visits. They were thorough with their tests, and helpful in breaking down my dog’s diagnosis by providing additional resources so I can educate myself too. Thank you for improving his quality of life for his last little stretch.

Dr. Raj is the best vet I have ever taken my dogs to. If you're looking for a new vet, he will not disappoint! July 8/23 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I took my German Shepherd, Jade in for her annual. Dr. Raj took the time to really become one and understand Jade's personally. He gives his recommendations and explains clearly what needs to be done. As a dog mom, I can see how he is very passionate about what he does. He always goes over and beyond! August 11/23 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a scare with my 12 year old Aussie, I called the clinic and was lucky to get an apt to see Dr. Raj immediately. The vet check was with exceptional service as always, and we were given medication. I'm on day 2 now and she's already showimg improvement, I would say she is pretty much back to normal. Thank you to Dr. Raj and his staff for doing an excellent job.

Dr. Mathan is an amazing vet! He really listens to all our concerns and only recommends tests when they’re truly necessary, which is such a relief. He very patiently explained everything to us and addressed all our doubts without rushing the appointment, even though it was closing time. Cara, at reception, is super sweet and caring. She gave us some great advice and made the whole visit feel a lot more comfortable! It's a blessing to have such wonderful, compassionate, caring vets who treat your pets like their own. Dr. Mathan and Dr. Raj are truly a godsend, and we are so lucky to have found them for our baby!

I've been to 4-5 vets in my life, these guys are the very best. Dr. Raj has a gift with animals and even despite my very difficult Shiba Inu, he was able to handle him flawlessly. He doesn't cower from dogs that are difficult to control.

Shout out to the Christina, Cara, Dr. Raj and Dr. Mathan. Our fur baby just could not stand, walk on his rear legs and we were so helpless looking at his pleading eyes. Went to the clinic and Dr Raj prescribed meds for him, of course, the side effect was diarrhea and still could not move. The next day, went back and was asked to bring him to the clinic for check up, this was an instant appointment, went in at 9 am and was asked to bring him at 11:30AM. Was so surprised that at 11:00AM, my fur baby was back on his four feet. Went to the clinic with him, Dr. Mathan did through check up and gave meds for his diarrhea. Today, Nov7, he is in great shape, however, cannot climb steps, but hoping he will soon. The staff and Doctors at Forestbrook pet hospital have great empathy for all. Thank you Team Forestbrook
