How to Save Money at Southeast Oakville Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We took our pup to this vet for the first time and I just wish we had known about them sooner! We have a bit of a reactive dog and Dr. Peters and Liz were extremely patient and our little guy ended loving them! They were transparent about the costs, and provided all the information about the treatment plan in great detail. We are so appreciative and will hopefully be a lifelong patient ☺️ thank you very much

My dog have been patients for over a year. Both of my female dog which are cane corso love coming to their office and love all of the staff. They are always very patient and caring for both of my dogs. I had previously been to a vet that were scared of my one dog because of her size but the staff of Sotheast greets my dogs with so much love, care, treats and attention that my girls love going there. ( As you can tell by the pictures they’re always waiting for the VT or Dr to come in for some love and treats)

My regular vet was totally slammed and could not take my pet so I needed to find an emergency vet nearby. I am in a powered wheelchair and it takes days to book a rid. My friend took my cat to Southeast Oakville Vet hospital. They were amazing! They kept me informed by phone every step of the way. Gave me options and pricing so I could choose the best treatment. They were SOOO nice and caring. I have contacted there for other things like food and meds and always always had a great experience and been asked how Spice is now. My friend says the clinic is large and staff is amazing. Give it a try, you will be happy you did and so will YOUR pet.

We had multiple vets in oakville and Toronto since we got our two cats and lived in both cities. The moment we discovered Southeast Oakville Vet Hospital, we think we finally found our vet for life. The location is by far the best facility I could ask for as a pet owner. The place is bright and clean with very welcoming installations in the cats room where my cats feel very comfortable each visits. The vets and technicians are very friendly and professional, they are all pets owners and genuinely care about our cats like their own. No matter a regular visit or emergency situation they are always taking it very seriously with care. Surgery process is very smooth and well assessed, which makes me and my cats feel very comfortable. I trust them so much and I know my precious little boys are in good hands.

I highly recommend Southeast Oakville Vet to all my friends and family. The facility is amazing! They have everything you and your pet could possibly need. Dr. Derek made my dog Storm feel so comfortable. He hadn't been to the vet in a while because he had a bad experience and was terrified. Bringing him to see Dr. Derek was painless, he provided a very gentle approach and Storm didn't even notice when they took his blood. They have thought of everything from keeping dogs/cats separate to disguising the scale with a rug so the animals aren't scared. I've never had such an easy experience. I felt like Dr. Derek truly cared about making the experience comfortable for myself and Storm. 10/10 Highly recommend.
