How to Save Money at Bronte Road Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I can’t say enough good things about this animal hospital. Every staff member was so calm, kind, and helpful during a stressful time. The doctor was amazing – he clearly cares more about the pets than making money. Unlike other places that pushed unnecessary tests, he only recommended what was actually needed. Thanks to him, my cat is doing great now. I’m so grateful for the genuine care and attention they gave us. If you’re looking for a vet who truly puts pets first, this is the place to go.

8 dogs I brought here, however because of a family emergency, I had to cancel an appointment. Then my baby girl who was about to get spayed started her first heat. I was told this would increase her risk of cancer so I cancelled the appointment and said I would have it done after her heat. I was then told he would not treat any of my dogs again. Life happens. I was not going to put her at extra risk and I cancelled in plenty of time. She and her intact brother (who was next for surgery) had to wear diapers for a couple weeks, IMO. Better option than her getting pregnant by her brother, or getting CANCER! I will stop my review here. I thought the vet was awesome until this and another negative experience, I wont go into detail.

Dr. Dieter was fantastic with our 14 year old Maltese, Daisy, and her teeth extraction. We had been at another vet and were not happy with the quote we received ($3400), and it was also taking a long time for them to give us an appointment for our dog. After calling Bronte Road Animal Hospital, we had an appointment for a consultation within 3 days, and a date for her tooth extraction a week from that. We were quoted about $850, and ended up paying $888 - super happy with this reasonable pricing. Daisy is now 1 week post-op and her mouth has never been healthier and she's feeling great. We were also given before and pictures of her mouth which was cool to see. Dr. Dieter really knows his stuff, is completely transparent about the procedure, and was more than happy to explain everything to us. We have now made him our primary vet not only for our dog, but for our cat and our rabbits as well.

Two years ago, based of a friend's recommendation, we took Mara, our dog, to Bronte Animal Hospital for a consultation with Dr. Dieter Schmidt. I couldn’t be more impressed with the exceptional care and service we received. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, creating a sense of comfort for both Mara and myself. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, making the check-in process seamless. Dr. Dieter Schmidt’s expertise and compassion were evident from the start. He took the time to thoroughly assess Mara’s condition, explaining each step of the examination process with clarity and patience. His professionalism and attention to detail instilled confidence in me as a pet owner, knowing that Mara was in capable hands. What truly sets Dr. Schmidt apart is his outstanding people skills. He not only cares deeply for the well-being of his furry patients but also demonstrates genuine empathy and understanding towards their human companions. He listened attentively to my concerns, addressed all my questions with empathy, and provided valuable insights and recommendations for Mara’s care. The entire team at Bronte Animal Hospital, under Dr. Schmidt’s leadership, exemplifies excellence in veterinary care. The facility is well-equipped with state-of-the-art technology, ensuring that pets receive the highest standard of medical treatment. Overall, my experience at Bronte Animal Hospital exceeded my expectations, thanks to Dr. Dieter Schmidt and his dedicated team. I wholeheartedly recommend Bronte Animal Hospital to anyone seeking compassionate and expert veterinary care for their furry family members.
