How to Save Money at Oakpark Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We have had 2 years worth of great service and excellent care for our dog. We choose to travel to this vets, rather than go to any closer to our home. We also found that their fees for everything was significantly less than our previous vet, including dental surgery - definitely a bonus!

I have been with this clinic since 2000 ! Three years ago we moved to Sudbury and drove down to Oakville for serious illness. Now we drive two hours. None of the staff from veterinarians staff to administration ever deceived me with my pets. They will do everything they can to find the issue and get my pets better or in a Ishtar away if needed! Since I had to put down two of my dogs .. 17th Pistache- 13th Oreo and our Cachou who pasted away home who was 16th.. From professional phone advises, clinic exams, one on one administration assistance and mostly their RIP room, Oakpark Pet Hospital is top notch! Compassion Understanding Responsable Knowledgeable Honesty Caring, soo helpful are just a few of this clinic qualities! I will never be able to thanked all of them enough for their support 💐 Merci

What an amazing place for animals. We have had all great experiences here but most recently with our 6 year old rescue cat. Fendi was diagnosed with cancer, then an X-ray showed it had eaten at his one jaw bone, throat, nasal passage and esophagus. I wanted to get him chemotherapy but Fendi was suffering and his condition was so awful. While he was still eating and drinking it was a tough decision to make. for next steps but Dr.Maria was patient, understanding and showed significant care. Fendi loved Dr. Maria! Her warm and compassionate presence was felt. She truly cares for not only the animals but the pet owners. She is understanding and works with you on best treatment options. She took so much of her time to talk to me during visits and it wasn’t rushed. Our experience at other vet clinics was sadly not good and no comparison to the level of treatment that Oakpark offers. I have another cat and will never ever go anywhere else. Thank you for all you do and how much you care, Anne and Fendi and family R.I.P Fendi. April 2017-March 2024 ❤️

I took my 8-week old puppy to this clinic a week ago. At first, I could feel his little body trembling in my arms. We were very warmly greeted at the reception desk. Everyone was friendly. Instantly felt good about the place. Our puppy was still nervous, but as soon as the vet assistant came into the room, he ran up to greet her with his tag wagging. She spoke to him in a cheerful tone, gave him treats and lots of cuddles. He seemed thrilled to be there. She asked us for general information about his food, stool, etc. and took notes. The vet (Andrew/Andy) entered with a calm, positive and friendly demeanour. Our puppy instantly loved him too. We were very impressed by our vet. He patiently answered our questions and when I mentioned being nervous about trimming the puppy’s nails, our vet immediately offered to teach us. He clearly explained each step to us as he trimmed our puppy’s nails. I was very grateful that we didn’t have to do it ourselves for the first time because I was really worried about accidentally hurting him, esp since he’s just a little puppy. The vet was very gentle and loving with our furbaby. He didn’t seem uncomfortable at all. As new dog parents, we didn’t know what to expect when we went to the vet clinic. We left extremely pleased by their service. We can tell that our puppy is in excellent hands. Just today, I called the clinic to book his follow-up appointment. The woman on the phone (Justine I believe?) spent a half hour chatting with me and answering my questions. She gave me wonderful tips on how to tackle puppy biting/chewing, his feeding schedule, etc. It’s clear that everyone at this clinic genuinely wants the best for their patients, and they aren’t just “getting the job done.”
