How to Save Money at Limestone City Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I absolutely love this vet. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. All staff, vet techs and vets are caring, patient and compassionate. Our dog is fearfully aggressive and we've been bringing here since we adopted him 5 years ago. Everyone at the clinic is absolutely understanding, being as comforting to him as they can be, accommodating him with kindness and patience. He isn't always the easiest dog, but they understand that it's important to us for him to get good care, and more so I can tell that they genuinely care about our dog as well, muzzle and all.

Had a terrible experience today. I mistook our appointment time, thinking it was at 9:30 am instead of 8:30 am. There was no reminder sent to my phone, nor any call to ask if I was coming in. When I arrived, the receptionist was incredibly rude, informing me that my appointment had passed and they couldn't see me. We live 40 minutes away, and my cat gets extremely car sick, experiencing drooling, vomiting, and pooping. It was a terrible ordeal for him, only to not be seen today. The receptionist laughed at us and spoke so rudely that I was shocked. If we made a mistake with the appointment time and you can't see us, that's understandable, but not calling or sending reminders—which is part of a receptionist's job—and speaking to us so rudely, mocking my cat, and telling us to check our email is unforgivable. We won't be coming to this clinic anymore. How someone so rude and unprofessional got the job as a receptionist in this clinic is beyond me.

Our dogs got into a porcupine Wednesday night while we were at the cottage up north We worked on him until about 10 o’clock realizing we wouldn’t be able get any more quills out. We headed out early in the morning and left a voicemail for our clinic, informing them that we were en route. When we got to our animal hospital, the receptionist informed us that there no vet available and they were unable to see us that day. She suggested we call someone else. We called limestone city animal Hospital, and while the vet wasn’t at the hospital yet the tech said she would call him. She called the vet and he said he would meet us at 9 o’clock even though he had an appointment at 9 o’clock.Dr. Shepherd fit us in regardless. The entire team was amazing and so friendly, professional and helpful. They totally understood the stress we were under. We left Stevie in their capable hands. Picked him up a couple of hours later with antibiotics and instructions and felt that this clinic really cared. We highly recommend limestone city animal Hospital for all your pet needs.

The doctors and VTs at Limestone are knowledgeable and compassionate. They work with us to find affordable solutions to our cat's medical problems without compromising care. The vets give advice that takes into account clients' finances, and they've never made us feel like bad cat parents because we can't pay for expensive tests and treatments on our grad student budget. They do let us know that if the cheaper solutions don't work, we may have to pay for more expensive care, but so far, all their inexpensive suggestions have solved our cat's issues! Limestone staff always follow up with us after appointments to see how kitty is doing, and we can really tell that everybody in the clinic cares deeply about animals.

I took my cat Thanos to here yesterday for the first time. I adopted him in May after fostering. They were very caring, they listened and they gave me good advice for my cat. They gave him some shots and answered all my questions, sold me some products that fit exactly what I needed. The vet tech and the vet (Dr Robertson) were very kind and they handled Thanos with care. Thanos like most cats can definitely be a bit bitey if he doesn't like what's going on, but they were professionals about it. I will come back here, they were great.
